I am very impressed with the Energy Savings Bond idea....what is the best way to get that to be REALITY? The Round Up idea is also a terrific concept.

I read Pickens new book over the weekend - it was well worth the cost and time. An amazing story ... .

"The First Billion is the Hardest" - "Reflections on a life of Comebacks and America's Energy Fuuture: - "With a Plan for Reducing U.S. Oil Dependency" ... a book about life, business, management, commodities, deals (good and bad), success and failure, the truth about Oil, a Plan, physical and mental fitness at age 80, and many other interesting subjects.

Gary Dawbin: I have little knowledge of what you wrote about (Honda), but I agree in principle that there should be more decentralized solutions. Highly centralized "services" are part of the present world economic problems. The ideal would be that each home and business has independent energy services. I think Nicola Tesla, inventer of alternating electric current, was working on a solution when he died (1846 - 1943) ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla

Whoops! Link to Honda Home Energy info didn't stick - trying again:

Has anybody checked out the Honda "Home Energy Station" (see for details), that will extract hydrogen from natural gas to power a fuel cell vehicle as well as run a fuel cell that will generate electricity for the home? One of the limitations on fuel cell vehicles is the size of the reformer that extracts the hydrogen from the natural gas, and the difficulty of placing the entire package in a passenger car, although fuel cells are used to power larger vehicles such as buses, 18-wheelers, locomotives, etc. that are big enough to carry the reformer. Until we have hydrogen fueling stations, such as they are building in California, these home energy fueling stations may be a solution to more wide-spread introduction of fuel cells. While I am certainly a proponent of wind power, I do worry about the discussions of the proposed expansion and "modernization" of the electrical grid to move the wind- (and solar-) generated electricity around the country. I view the national electrical grid as a weak spot in our energy supply, prone to terrorist attack and disruptions due to storms, equipment failures, etc., and other reliability issues. I would much prefer to see locally generated electricity from smaller power plants (including wind farms) used by local consumers, thus further enhancing the national security benefits by reducing our reliance on a national electrical grid as well as dependence on foreign oil. Ultimately, the Honda concept of home-generated hydrogen from natural gas powering fuel cells for homes and vehicles may be the really clean, green energy independence that we all seek. I would like to see this discussion incorporated into our national energy plan.

I got no response from the Senators ... that is not unusual ... I am registered as an Independent voter in Maine.
