A major article in the Wall Street Journal echoes what T. Boone Pickens has been saying for nearly a year: There is enough natural gas under the continental United States to serve all of our needs for upwards of 100 years.

Hi Team,

I wanted to let you know that between now and April 19, over the Congressional Easter Recess, we have an opportunity to reach our Members of Congress in their home districts! Having our leaders hear from us, the constituents, makes the biggest impact!

So here's what to do:

The focus is now on 2 new pieces of legislation: NAT GAS Act of 2009 and RES (Renewable Electricity Standard). Boone needs your help to rally local supporters to contact your elected officials during the Congressional Recess.

Here is what you can do:

1) Generate letters, emails and calls to your Members of Congress during the Congressional Recess
2) Set up meetings with your Members of Congress or an aide over the next week while they are on recess
3) Organize local meetings, events, happy hours, receptions with local supporters and urge them to call or email their representative on the spot!
4) Submit Op Eds & Letters to the Editor to local newspapers and media outlets (If you want to do this option, let me know and I will be glad to help! )

Contact info for your Congressmen and Senators can be found at http://www.house.gov/ or http://www.senate.gov/

Finally, please post any updates on activity that you initiate in your district. I report to Boone on a daily basis, and your feedback keeps him up-to-date!

T. Boone Pickens to Speak at University of Missouri System's First Energy Summit

Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens, architect of the "Pickens Plan" to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil, is the keynote speaker for a statewide Energy Summit hosted by the University of Missouri's four campuses April 22-23 in Columbia.

Columbia, MO - infoZine - Pickens' keynote address is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 (Earth Day) in Jesse Hall Auditorium on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. The speech is free and open to the public, but due to limited seating, registration is required. To register, visit www.missourisummits.com.

Missouri University of Science and Technology Chancellor John F. Carney III is chair of the Missouri Energy Summit.

Pickens is the founder and chairman of BP Capital Management, one of the nation's most successful energy-oriented investment funds. His Pickens Plan calls for revamping U.S. energy policy to harness domestic energy alternatives while promoting the development of new technologies for alternative energy.

Pickens elevated energy reform into the national debate during the 2008 presidential campaign, with both candidates using direct facts and statistics provided by the Pickens Plan on the campaign trail. Many aspects of the Pickens Plan were included in President Obama's stimulus package, including incentives for advancement of wind, solar, and other alternative energy sources and a new transmission grid. Taking advantage of abundant domestic alternative fuels like natural gas to reduce our country's staggering dependence on foreign oil, which has reached nearly 70 percent, remains a top priority of Mr. Pickens as he continues his call for a comprehensive energy plan.

University of Missouri System President Gary Forsee announced in December that the Energy Summit would be one of two statewide economic development forums spearheaded this year by the university's four campuses. The second summit, slated for Oct. 7-8 in Kansas City, will focus on biological and life sciences.

"We want to bring together our state's best researchers, faculty, companies, entrepreneurs, investors, federal and state agencies, students and others who can help our state assume a leadership role in achieving energy and health advances for this century," Forsee said. "Cultivating renewable energy sources and improving human health are important goals in their own right, but they also can play a huge role in advancing our state's economy by creating more jobs."

Pickens' speech kicks off an afternoon lineup of leading national energy experts at the Energy Summit. First-day speakers include:

Boone's latest article, More Momentum for the Pickens Plan, is up on the Huffington Post.

It's a good one to read and comment on! Here's an excerpt about the businesses that are backing the Pickens Plan:

"Now American businesses are starting to jump on board the Pickens Plan bandwagon. And that's going to be key. It started in December when Owens Corning signed on as the first corporate partner of the Pickens Plan. Think about it: better-insulated homes and offices will mean huge savings for American homeowners and businesses and decrease our reliance on imported oil. America's largest automotive retailer, AutoNation, is another big supporter of the Pickens Plan. Last month the company's CEO, Mike Jackson, hosted a Town Hall meeting in Fort Lauderdale. What do fuel-efficient cars require? Less energy. That's good news for car buyers and the environment. Watch out for Wal-Mart. The nation's largest retailer has teamed up with Peterbilt to test two CNG trucks and two LNG trucks to run between their distribution centers and their stores. And then there's American Electric Power, which is committed to developing the type of transmission grid so important to making the most of wind and solar power. Not only will the AEP's 21st-century transmission grid promote our energy security, but it will support the economic development our country needs right now. As I mentioned last week, AT&T chairman Randall Stephenson announced that his company was going to purchase 8,000 trucks that will run on natural gas. AT&T is also converting another 7,000 gasoline-powered vehicles to run on battery power and other fuel sources."

You have probably seen information on the Virtual March on Washington, but in case you haven't yet, here's what it is:

The Pickens Plan is organizing a Virtual March on Washington to be held April 1-3, 2009.

We are going to utilize the size and unique capabilities of the New Energy Army to have an enormous impact on the White House and Congress. The Army will focus its energy during those three days on e-mails, calls and faxes to every Member of Congress.

Between now and then we will be engaging in a series of activities to get ready for the event, including:

* Contacting Members of Congress through email and phone calls to encourage support for key aspects of the Pickens Plan.
* Recruiting new members of the Army in every Congressional District.
* Submitting letters to the editor and op-eds to newspapers around the country.
* Holding district meetings and house parties with members of the Army to discuss ways to have an impact.
* Participating in webcast events.

We will be communicating with members of the Army via email, Push, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and LinkedIn to build support and enthusiasm for the event. Make sure you are connected to us on any of these platforms where you have a profile!

This Weekly Standard post has information many of you have been curious about. It explains the math that comes with the cost of foreign oil when compared to what we can save using natural gas. Definitely worth reading!

The goverment [ U S Legalators ] need to think about Energy [ Renwable, Clean power [ Solar Electric and Solar water heaters. Wind generators ] ]

I know IF we all think about it, WE an solve the energy stalemate.

We the people of the plan, need to ask the goverment to enact laws for energy systems [ wind and solar ] renewable energy, for the good of the United States and the world

1.) To do this we need to develop markets outside the US to buy our products.

2.) Help the small farmers, have a better income from their farms. By small I mean farms less than 1000 acres.

3.) Stop the big businesses from moving out of the USA, By placing a tariff on goods made in countries out side the USA. Right now 80% of the items are made in china that I Buy. Why do I buy them, because I cannot find that item made in the USA.

4.) Companies in the USA need to build better products, getting away from this stupid through a way society. If products were made so that they could be repaired, easily, it would create a new job opening, for people to work at. We have two many junk piles that are ruining our water supplies.

5.) Give incentives to people who recycle, make improvements to their homes, and put in energy producing equipment. We need to get away from oil produced outside the USA.

6.) Bailing out Big Business, is like giving our SSI to drug addicts, it just helps them get more in trouble.

7.) Remove the restrictions on the amount of money that can be earned by the healthy person in the family where one is disabled and draws medicade, That way He or She can make more money and pay more taxs. In time They may be able to make enough to get their partner off the welfair role. (No One wants to be Poor, and if they Love their partner, they sure don't wish to be told thay have to get a devorice.)

That is my seven steps to getting the USA back on its feet. It is called, "Making The People in Charge Accountible".
