Email, call, send a letter, write a letter to the editor, today to say THANK YOU to Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey for introducing the Senate version of the NAT GAS Act of 2009!!

More than 35 Members of Congress joined T. Boone Pickens for a photo on the steps of the United States Capitol to celebrate the first anniversary of The Pickens Plan, July 8, 2009. These Members of Congress represent the nearly 70 co-sponsors of H.R. 1835, the NAT GAS Act.

Shortly after this photo was taken, Boone was escorted to the U.S. Senate side of the Capitol to participate in the introduction of the Senate version of the NAT GAS Act, S. 1408 by Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey and Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nevada) is an original co-sponsor of S. 1408.

Good Monday Morning all...

When you have a moment please reach out and congratulate Mike Morton, DL, NJ-04 and Alan Hamilton, DL, NJ02 (NJDL Delegation) for their amazing Pickens Plan outreach this weekend at the Haneman Park, Earth Day Festival sponsored by ACUA.

They signed 168 pledges and connected with several candidates for a Pickens U Chapter., a great accomplishment (especially in near 100 degree temps) and worth a giant pat on the back from all DL's. They have a number of other events planned at venues with FREE booth space. It might be worth considering for your group. As you may know all DL's in New Jersey formed a Delegation which works together in unison to achieve joint objectives. It's been a great experience. It's a productive way to spread out the work and expand each districts capacity.

We are in the discussion stage of a Towne Hall event; something far more difficult to do without lots of help. Try it in your State.

Hi all...

The NJDLD (New Jersey District Leader Delegation) is discussing strategies for a Towne Hall meeting event this fall. We are reaching out to regular members and RL's who have participated in or produced these events in the past and asking for advice and information on the process. It's not evident or conclusive at this point that Boone's schedule will accomodate a personal appearance which we would prefer; but want to consider it anyway as an important community outreach for the PP objectives and clean energy in general.

If anyone can share their experience or provide some direction about how an event of this nature is assembled, advertised, funded, etc., we would appreciate it. We are considering a University setting or other public venue which might be willing to provide the space. We would like to attract several 100 to 1000 attendance and have also discussed a live PBS TV feed.

Any assistance would be helpful.

Thanks,
Jack Costantino, DL, NJ-11

We have heard and read recently about a proposed BILL for a government run GREEN BANK. There are a variety of opinions about it's purpose, structure and value to the objectives of Clean Energy development and Energy Independence. Some are in favor and some agree with the general idea but have a dim view of the government’s ability to manage a successful outcome.

On first reading, some, myself included, felt it demonstrated parallels to KENDALL ENERGY BONDS...if not in the structure of accumulating the funds...at least in the intent for their use.

How would you interpret this BILL?

Hey group...
We just wanted to let you know that the NJDLD (New Jersey District Leader Delegation) which includes all DL's in the State managed to sign up 3 Virtual March Partners, adding a total of 1800 members to the VM count. NJ-11 is counted in that contribution.

MARCH ON!

BE 500 PEOPLE!

The 3 day Pickens Virtual March on Washington is ON! Among other actions, I’m encouraging everyone to send a single eMail EVERY DAY. In political arithmetic that is counted as 500 in the minds of our elected officials.

YOU ARE 500 PEOPLE. Every eMail legislative aides receive is statistically calculated to represent 500 people in a congressional district who feel exactly the same way...even if they didn’t actually write. That’s absolute fact. It’s a simple thing to do, but it has tremendous impact.

Please go to Find your District Congressman and enter your zip code in the box on the far right side. You will be directed to a page at CONGRESS.ORG that automatically finds and allows you to eMail your elected officials on the federal and state level. Copy and paste the following text:

--------------------------Beginning of Letter ---------------------------------------------------

(Subject Box:) Support the Pickens Plan

(Issue Area Box: Choose Energy)

(Editable Text Area:)

I am a constituent living in (FILL IN CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT OR TOWN) who supports the Pickens Plan and asks you to do the same. America’s dependence on foreign oil depletes our economy, threatens our national security and negatively impacts our environment.

Please sign the Pickens Pledge and support conservation, education and the development of clean energy at every possible opportunity. It’s important for our economy and the well being of generations to come.

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.

------------------------End of Letter ------------------------------------------------------------------

The rest of the options are your own choice. Click the “Send Message” button at the bottom of the page.

This type of appeal makes our leaders take notice, and I urge every one of you to BE 500 PEOPLE today, because you really are. You have power that can be delivered with a few clicks of your finger. Don’t wait…do it now!

Thank you for your support.

Hello NJ-11

Here is a group picture of virtually all New Jerseys District Leaders at the first NJDL Delegation meeting in the State House in Trenton, NJ. The meeting was fun and more importantly productive in refining strategies for the Virtual March, selecting the groups leadership, establishing committee's and in general motivating our group forward.

We're suggesting that DL's in other States gather in a similar way to consolidate their power and organize their efforts. We're very proud of our fledgling group for their dedication and committment to this essential imperative.

We will reach out soon to the general membership of NJ-11 to join in our Virtual March outreach program. Remember April1 - 3 will be eBlast day. Watch for suggestions about a simple way to make your voice heard. I the next couple of weeks we will be asking for Committee Leaders for a number of projects including PICKENS U campus chapter formation.
