Pursing a grant and some land sounds like a great idea; having something tangible and visible in our area has great potential for getting the word out and building support.
Do you have any experience working with State or Federal officials; any contacts? I’m not against cold calling or trying to set up a meeting but, sadly, good ideas are not always enough where bureaucrats and elected officials are concerned. My company had to hire a lobbying firm to convince Congress that 90% thermal efficiency is better than 85% to get some of our products included in a tax credit program.
Strength in numbers; as a group we would be much more likely to get an audience with a Senator or Congressman to discuss what we can do to make a difference. I don't think the people in this group have gotten together for a meeting yet. It’s my experience that there is no substitute for face-to-face communication. As far as a place to meet, the group is welcome to meet at my home in Hendersonville.
