I'm glad to see Kay has endorsed the Pickens plan. I'm also glad to see that Boone is organizing by Congressional district. I'm in Mansfield and willing to help the effort. Thanks!

United States Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas is the latest member of the U.S. Senate to sign the Pledge for Energy Independence.

Senator Hutchison is the Ranking Member (Senior Republican) on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. A major principal of the Pickens Plan is to design programs and policies which will make it easy for current over-the-road trucks and fleet vehicles which use gasoline and diesel as fuels to be replaced by vehicles which use natural gas.

Way to go Texas Leadership Teams!! We have only been up and running for less than a week and 1 of Texas' Senators has already been convinced to sign the pledge! Now we set our sites on Senator Cornyn! Keep it up!

BTW, Fred. I use a battery operated drill & other tools. I swap between 2 batteries. Of course most of what I do is around the house and doesn't require 'construction grade" power tools.

Fred, here's a few places to start:

Ford: http://www.sae.org/automag/techbriefs/04-2002/page3.htm

NHA: http://www.hydrogenassociation.org/

Car&Driver: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/features_classic_cars/green_solutions_available_now_feature+page-2.html

I prefer to "buy American", unfortunately, most of the choices available are not supplied by American car companies! Ford I think is the closest, but GM (if they stay in business) might get there. For the time being, I'm waiting on Ford.

Nancy - If that's the case, two things; I would like to have your Hydrogen research sources because I have not seen that and we too are much interested in Hydrogen Fuel as a renewable because it is a natural bi-product of bio-mass conversion which is "positive" clean energy technology along with wind, solar or any other renewable power source. I think renewable "Tank" fuels will be required in addition to pure Electric power, initially for psychological reasons if nothing else. I still use a corded drill motor because I don't trust the battery powered ones. One of our goals is to get Grass Roots America involved in the EI process and we can do that by taking home grown food, clean water power, and fuel to each community. Go to www.saladacres.net and click on "Energy" on the Left side of the screen. If each community funds their own E-Farm, it's theirs and they become generators of their own electricity, without wind. If you want to establish direct contact, use my email; fredsbeds@sbcglobal.net

Fred, from the reseach I've done, the cost of fully charging a hydrogen vehicle (about 8 hours) is about the same as running a 100-watt light bulb for the same length of time. These vehicles are being testing on both the East and West coasts of this country. Ford claims that they will have a commercially available vehicle (probably at a cost I can't afford) in about 3 years.

Nancy - Fred Howard again. I jumped the gun and welcomed you before I read your Comments. There is a way to do what you suggest without Govt. money. I agree with you , if we want a worthwhile project to die, seek, Govt. intervention. We might need Govt. money up front , however, once Evergreen has an operational Farm, we can expand the concept with $10 per month from those who support and join our Network. We will set up the distribution infrastructure for all alternative fuels and actively support development of more, as we partner with Municipalities across the Nation. I whole heartily support Boone Pickens and his program. We want to add to and help him accomplish his objectives. We also want to advance Hydrogen Fuel technology, however, at this time it requires too much electricity to produce. Let's pursue NG as an alternative and advance renewable energy like wind , bio, solar, etc. and bring that along for the future. What if you could drive a NG, electric, or Ethanol car across America refueling at Evergreen Farms while you enjoy a totally organic meal, prepared in a kitchen powered by bio-mass converted electricity. We have a plan like Boone and are trying to implement. Fred Howard

As a Technical Writer and former Engineer I'd like to be driving a Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicle and setting up the nationwide infrastructure necessary for it and other forms of alternative energy. The technology exists, the infrastructure does not.

Regardless of what other forms of alternative energy we use for our vehicles and other energy needs, we need the infrastructure setup nationwide. Most of us have "limited incomes" and financial obligations and can't afford the cost of setting up fueling stations or energy networks across the nation. If we wait for "Uncle Sam" to do it for us, we and our grand children will all be in our graves before that happens. Logically I know the government must be involved, it's just that it seems everything goes into slow motion and costs 10-times what it should when the government is involved. What can we do?

If you want to check out the company I work for, go to www.tempoair.com I work for the part of the company called Tex-Energy Solutions. Click on the "high utility bills?" tab. I just updated my profile on this site to explain what I do. Thanks!
