News Release about wind power

Despite the robust growth in 2008, the wind association cited the following recent announcements of layoffs in turbine manufacturing because of the credit crunch and a slowdown in projects:
-Clipper Windpower, a turbine maker, announced it was furloughing 90 of its 830 workers mainly at a manufacturing plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa;
-LM Glasfiber, a maker of turbine blades, is laying off 150 workers at one of two plants in Little Rock, Ark.;
-DMI Industries, which makes wind turbine towers at facilities in North Dakota, Oklahoma and Ontario, Canada, is cutting its work force by 20 percent.
-Aerisyn, also a tower manufacturer, announced in November a layoff of 54 workers at its plant in Chattanooga, Tenn.
-Trinity Structural Towers, a subsidiary of Trinity Industries of Texas, also in November announced the layoff of 131 workers at its plant in Tulsa, Okla.

Hi group, I've started a group for those who want to make US Treasury Independence Savings Bonds become a reality and more than a dream. Please check out my PickensPlan page, consider joining as a friend on it, please consider contacting your representative about this plan, and most of all please consider joining the US Treasury Idependence Savings Bond group on my PickensPlanPage. I have about over 100 comments and 60 friends in 3 days that want this to become a reality.

You will be better off writing or emailing direct to the President as an individual, including your address, email and phone number. Personal correspondence carries more weight than a petition, joint letter etc; unless your personal info is included.

Rebecca, Yes if you would like to do that it would be great, If we can get just one fax, web based comment form, or letter to the President or Vice President there may be a possibility that he may direct the Secretary of Treasury to take action on this idea. He needs our support and he needs funding to make the 10 year goal of Energy Independence from middle east oil he set happen. Also, the Select Congressional Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming is another route besides your representatives. Please, at your discretion, if you want to pass this idea to others and encourage them to become friends on my web page do so. Thanks for your support and help.
Sincerely and with Respect

I agree that the savings bond is a great idea.
Rebecca, or anyone else: I would like to get a bill started to pass a law that would have us use pure synthetic oil in our vehicle's engines. By using synthetic oil we could change our oil around every 12,000 to 15,000 miles instead of the 2-5,000 that we currently do. Plus it would free up more oil that could be refined into fuel. This too would reduce our dependance on foreign oil.
