Team, please take time to contact our Senators about supporting the Pickens Plan portion of this stimulus package. It's important we make our voice on this topic known.

Let's make those calls today.....

Regards,
Jim Spencer

Email Your Senator Today!
Hey Army!

The stimulus package passed the U.S. House of Representatives and is now in the Senate. You know how this deal works: Each of the two houses of Congress works on its own version of the bill, then they have to get together and work out the differences before it gets sent to President Obama.

I need you to contact your U.S. Senators and ask them to support the Pickens Plan components of the stimulus package. Click here to send them an email today.

Reports from the Senate indicate that getting our items into the bill will be an uphill battle – but it is still possible. We hope these will take the form of incentives such as tax credits or grants.

The House bill contained a lot of the items we have been pushing for in the Pickens Plan on the wind side of the plan. I need your help in telling your U.S. Senators to leave those in, but we need more attention on moving our national heavy truck fleet from imported diesel to domestic natural gas.

We want the Senate to allow trucking companies – large and small truckers who operate 18-wheelers – to get a tax break for buying trucks that run on natural gas.

If we can get just 350,000 of the 6.5 million 18-wheelers running on natural gas, we can cut our foreign oil dependence by over five percent!

Remember, in December – even with the economy coming to a halt – we still imported almost 380 million barrels of oil. About a quarter of that oil is used for diesel fuel to run 18-wheelers.

That will not only cut down on foreign oil, but it will add jobs as the heavy truck manufacturers hire (or retain) workers to build the new natural gas engines.

I need you to contact your U.S. Senators to tell them to support the Pickens Plan. Click here to send an email today.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Matt; I'm new to the group but I'm looking to expand my understanding of the dynamics surrounding alternative energy. I look forward to some great conversations, making great connections, and moving forward with a cleaner, greener economy.

There's still time to contact your representatives about the stimulus package before tomorrow's House vote. Let's try to answer Boone's email with at least 10 calls placed and reported

And here's another approach to the message that is concise and to the point:

"I support the wind energy elements included in the Stimulus Bill which will build upon 2008's successes in the wind energy sector:
-- Extension of the Production Tax Credit
-- Implementation of a renewable infrastructure loan program

I urge you to support doing more on the natural gas side and provide the incentives that will greatly expand the use of domestic natural gas as a vehicle fuel in America. Expanded use of NGVs (natural gas vehicles) will help wean us off of foreign oil and create new American jobs. These incentives include:
-- Increasing the vehicle tax credit to make natural gas trucks more accessible for heavy and medium duty truck operators
-- Extending the fuel tax credit

The Pickens Plan works best as a whole plan - wind and natural gas - and I hope Members of Congress will support that. The Stimulus Bill is a strong start but there's more we can - and should – do."

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Hello VT-01 -- Time to get to work.

By now you've seen Boone's email regarding the economic stimulus package that is scheduled for a vote in the House of Representatives this Wednesday. We need you to make ONE PHONE CALL today to Congressman Peter Welch’s office in DC (202) 225-4115 or Burlington (802) 652-2450. We also encourage you to reach out to Senators Sanders and Leahy.

Here are some talking points to use when you call the Congressman's office:

1. Your constituents support the wind energy elements included in the Stimulus Bill which will build upon 2008's successes in the wind energy sector:
-- Extension of the Production Tax Credit
-- Implementation of a renewable infrastructure loan program

2. We hope you're willing to do more on the natural gas side and provide the incentives that will greatly expand the use of domestic natural gas as a vehicle fuel in America.

3. The Pickens Plan works best as a whole plan - wind and natural gas - and we hope Members of Congress will support that. The Stimulus Bill is a strong start but there's more we can - and should – do.

Once you make your call, leave a comment here and let us know how it went. Or email me directly - judy.depalma@pickensplan.com. And be sure to give me your name and email address so we can make sure you get the 10 MyEnergy points we are awarding for each phone call.

Good luck, and let's go!

I would much rather put my energy into creating something positive such as alternative energy, rather than just negating what we have...nuclear energy. I look forward to what changes we can enact. Sharry

Jim,
I received your e-mail, and I like the op-ed letter to. I recently received a letter from the Barack Obama transition team. I submitted three questions; one was about help with Vermont’s energy independence. I can only hope it reaches the President elect Barack Obama’s top energy advisors. A little reminder picture below for us in the Northeast!
