Hi Don, I am sorry, I had never heard of your group. I was just trying to bring us all together on one page, we all have to work together. I understand about your group and had only suggested. Certainly, if it is better for you guys, that's fine. I would like to keep in contact if that is okay, so that the Georgia Group and your group can help support each other. We are more in the downtown area. But, I have been willing to travel so that all state groups can corrodinate efforts. So, keep in touch and if we can help you guys, let me know. Take care and have a great day, Sam

Sam, Sorry but no I and some of the Georgians For Energy Independence don't agree with you idea nor do we have any intention of disbanding our group and we are actually shocked that someone would suggest such a thing. As you may or may not know our group held the first independent meeting of any Push Pickens Plan group in the nation and we had 45 people in attendance and this was the same day that Boone made his announcement. We have already had our second monthly meeting and are structured to meet monthly as per our website. While I'm sure your intentions are good I don't agree with your concept. Yes we could have a state group but the logistics of meeting would limit it's capabilities right now plus we have such a wide range of geographic diversity in Ga. that what works in one area say micro hydroelectric plants in the mountains would not work in say in Valdosta . Where have you been having your Ga. meetings?I have to be honest up until now I nor any of our group has heard anything about you or a state group. If you notice our title we are considered a state group or so we thought until you wanted to form a new one. I also belong to the South Florida and Oregon Pickens groups. You are more than welcome to join our group and attend our meetings we can use all of the minds we can put together. By the way we are not an inactive group but talk among ourselves daily and we are putting together some plans to make some of our houses (mine included) completely energy independent. As for tracking our numbers I think it will be easy enough to pull up the Ga. groups and add the numbers.

As Georgia Leader for Pickens Plan Supporters, my goal is to bring us together as one group with divisions for different areas of our great state. We want to be well represented both on local and national level. Therefore, my plan is to have one GA group, so that when a person joins they do not have many inactive groups to choose from, but one active vital group. I ask that all who have started groups in Ga contact members for feedback. Let's work together. Let's set one group and delete others so we can all stand united. Each group now has so much to give, if we can do it together it will be more organized and productive with better communication. Also, we will have the ability to track our numbers and in this effort, numbers will mean power. So, please contact me with feedback, I am shooting for us to have this accomplished in the next 2 weeks so that all the new members and current members of a 130,000 member army can corrodinate efforts and make a difference in our state and beyond. I will pledge to contact, and meet in person all area leaders on a regular basis to keep us strong. Who is with me on this? Thank you for your time and all your efforts, pass this around and let's get to work. As soon as I get a hold on the petitions, I will strive to have GA as one of the largest groups represented, it starts at home. Let's make Georgia Pickens Plan Supporters a strong group. Have a Windy Day! Sam

Now Would you believe Stossel wonders why people are angry because he said USA Energy Independence is Idiocy

Mr. Stossel, It's not your argument that angered people.
What angered people is suggesting that USA Energy Independence is idiocy. Most rational people aren't angered over a debate. They are angered over the implication that what they believe is idiotic.

I suggest that you look up the stats of the 70s regarding what happened when the oil flow to the United States was reduced. For starters gasoline prices quadrupled, interest rates rose to as high as 18 percent, and we saw double digit inflation.

Today a similar situation could mean $16.00 a gallon gasoline.

High priced gasoline like that would ruin me and my family and most other families. It would probably even put a crimp in your TV ratings.
.
Back in the 70's we only imported about 30 percent of our oil needs. Today we import about 67 percent. Close to half of what we import comes from parts of the world such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Venezuela, places that are one step away from terrorist attacks, war, or have unfriendly government. Let us not forget Russia from whom we import oil.

Your models are based on the way things were. In the late 19th and early 20th century naysayers such as you were criticizing visionaries such as Henry Ford, because they couldn't imagine that there would be a demand for automobiles. Why? Because there was no infrastructure to manufacture and deliver fuel. The point is the Stossels of the world always talk as if things will remain the same and can't visualize the domino affect change has

I don't plan to bet the future of my family on depending on the oil dictators, sheiks and governments of unfriendly oil cartel nations. I would rather move forward through a combination of conservation, new auto technology, increased utilization of developing oil reserves, and the rapid development of alternative energy.

Stop being a naysayer and take a look around you. See what is going on. If you keep the blinders you will continue to show who the idiot is.

Eugene, we have got to be able to accept help from liberals and conservatives if we are going to make this big change.
Pickens points out that the geology is not there to expect much help from off shore drilling and not more than 2% of the worlds oil reserves are there. I would respectfully suggest that Bush and the republicans who are giving about 12 times as much in gas and coal subsidies as clean energy deserve some of the blame. I admit there is plenty of blame to go around for both parties over many years.

Is the Applebees in Whitfield or Madison County? (I am using mapquest.) Is it far off of 75? I may be coming from the Atlanta area.

I think we finally have someone capable of helping. Politicians and left wing organizations surely will not help us. I have never understood why we ever had to import any oil, when we have as much as we do underground and near the coast.

Thanks for allowing me to join this group. I look forward to the future now with a plan to get us off foreign oil.

Hey Gang !

I would like to find an answer to a question that may or may not be stupid......If you have items that rotate under the hood and under the body of a car, why can't that rotation be used to generate power to charge an aux battery perhaps stored in the trunk, for power.....much like an alt charges and supplies voltage to run the car and charge the battery while driving. Seems like the rotation of .......say the drive shaft (on a rear wheel drive vehicle) could be turned into an electrical producing device if......the principle of a motor could be devised around or attached to the rotation.
Is that a dumb idea or what?
