I've just caught wind of this aircar concept.
A couple of thoughts jump to mind to which I appreciate some answers or discussion.

1.) We produce E85 ethanol locally and a byproduct is carbon dioxide gas, which they ship out in abundance. I'm told it compresses better than regular breathing air, which would mean less storage space for the energy potential available. What are the shortcomings in aircar application regarding transfer from tank to engine and what are the safety concerns if the tank is damaged in an accident?

2.) CO2 is not as efficient as nitrogen, which can be extracted from the atmosphere using a nitrogen generator and using even less storage per potential energy. (Nitrogen generators are becoming far more common at tire dealers and garages due to their positive effect on tire performance.) Same questions as above regarding mechanicals and safety.

If I get answers/comments from elsewhere than this site, I will post them in the future.

Thank you for supporting Guy Negre air car efforts
He was nominated one of the Seven Visionary Vehicles designers www. 7 v v .org
And he was recently in Washington with the U.S Secretary of transportation. The AIr Cars are coming to the US.
If you or your group have have specific questions about the technology for Mr. Negre send it to n@7vv.org He will answer.
This is an effort to separate facts from fiction by opening a dialog
from future consumers to the inventor. You will have the precise answers for the critics that speak sometime without facts.
He doesn't develop only cars. Mr. Negre has created air generator technology very innovative to produce electricity.
Again Thank you for your support.

By "off-shore wind farm" I did not mean to exclude our country's interior where the wind corridor is. There are plenty of Gulf and Great Lake and other natural lake sites that fall into this wind corridor. Not least to mention the possibility of artificial lakes being created.

I think CA would be ideally suited for energy storage in off-shore wind farms. The reason - you replace a complex heavy electrical generator in each wind turbine with a much simpler air compressor that forces air down to underwater caisons. The advantage this method of CA storage is that the released air pressure is not variable ( it only depends on the depth of the caissons ) which simplifies greatly the generator configuration. Also, it means that such wind farms can store off-peak energy for sale at peak-power times instead of always dumping energy immediately to the grid.

Compressed air powered cars look great in the vids! However, this is not new - mines have been using CA powered rail cars since the early part of the 20th Century. A small problem for the Tata vehicle is that it is not an all-climate vehicle. There is a reason India is developing this technology - it works best in hot climates. This is because of the simple fact that expanding air cools. In a warm climate this doubles for air conditioning in the passenger compartment. In a cold climate this cooling would tend to freeze the engine.

Hi all;

The air car and Liquid air is destined to be a major green energy supply, world-wide. We (Hydro Lance) have been working on the production side, converting wind mill energy directly to liquid air as 'energy storage' - far a out sea where wind velocity is higher and more constant (image above). This inexpensive energy medium can not only run a car, but water pumps and can be used directly for refrigeration, drive electrical generation. HARTH tenders can efficiently deliver this medium to demand markets and port communities for distribution. Distribution means currently exist. This also answers a more near-term energy problem for third world countries.

The Opus Rotary Piston engine has shown to be an excellent, high torque converter to rotational mechanical energy, also ideal for use in the air car. Image above.

Hi,

This is a good thing as I would love to own a air powered car. I have seen several on you-tube, and they seem to run fine. If i can be of any help please feel free to call on me at any time.

Have a green day,

Kraig

There is no reason not to allow compressed air motors to power the future of absolutely everything if need be.

In August 2008, a technological breakthrough in materials discovery by Dr. Daniel Nocera at MIT allows for VERY efficient photolysis of water into Hydrogen and Oxygen molecules by abundant and easily accessible atoms and molecules (Cobalt and Phosphate). All you need to apply is a small voltage potential like any other electrophoresis apparatus, which can come from renewable resources, and illuminate the water tank with light. No more expensive Platinum and Palladium.

LIMITLESS HYDROGEN!!!
Soooooo inexpensive it's sickening!

Store your hydrogen indefinitely for limitless energy storage!

The argument that when the sun goes down solar energy fails, has now been put to rest for good!

Now I Don't know any intelligent person that actually wants to put hydrogen inside of a car. That's just dangerous and stupid. Hydrogen liquefies at -254C, -423F, (that's COLD!) and consequently must be under high pressure to compensate for the fact that it will be sitting in a tank at ROOM TEMPERATURE or warmer underneath your car ... much warmer.

Hydrogen in a car is dangerous ... But what if power companies use hydrogen created cheaply (see above) to power their already existing fuel cell power plants???

Another August 2008 amazing discovery of a material for Hydrogen fuel cell membranes poises the world for a collective gasp. Spanish researchers and American physists together have discovered and subsequently elucidated the structure of a material that is 10^8 (yes, 100million) times more efficient than current fuel Cell membrane technology.

I'm not even exaggerating... It's made out of ZrO2:Y2O3/SrTiO3
All abundant materials

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/07/080731173133.htm
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/321/5889/676

The membrane in a fuel cell allows the proton (H+) of hydrogen (H2) to pass through and pair with oxygen on the other side but forces the electron (which can't pass through) to go the "long-way" which happens to be through electrical wiring, hence generating current. Now we can generate 100 million times the current with the same amount of hydrogen gas.

Then we could create the majority of our electricity from hydrogen fuel cells, and use that electricity to charge the batteries on our car.

But that car wont run on electricity, per se. No, no, no. This car will run on compressed air! And where will the compressed air come from??

An air compressor on board the car that is powered by electricity generated from fuel cell power plants that get their hydrogen from photolysis of water made extremely cheap and efficient by Dr. Nocera et. al.

Discuss! Invest! Think about it!

Air Car Technology in depth:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFbKINlXzRk&feature=related

Entrepreneur and inventor, Angelo Di Pietro in Melbourne, Australia, is working to invent an air engine using a revolutionary new rotary piston design, weighing only 13kg! It contains very few moving parts and is small and light enough for a human to carry! Offers high torque at low RPMs, offers responsive control, extremely efficient and recieves very little loss of energy to fraction! Here's a fact I found out from the website, only 1 PSI of pressure is needed to overcame the friction!!! Sounds to good to be true doesn't it?! Don't take my word for it! Here's a video from the Science Channel! Enjoy!

Now you've seen the Air Car! This technology will truely revolutionize car technology as we know it! Now you all know why I support the Air Car so strongly!!! I stand by this technology, for now and forever! I will not stand for such brilliant technology going to waste!!!
