While geothermal is a fantasic alternative for utility electricity production, and a great heat/cooling alternative for multiple families, its application for a single household is a significant investment with a long payback. An alternative for cold climates is cold climate heat pumps and reverse cycle chiller heat pumps

Debra, you make a great point. WE all do need to police our carbon creation. I have started riding a bike for short trips. It has saved me a ton of cash, and I have lost some weight.

Many areas have abundant sunshine and solar panel rebate programs. We can all make a major difference in our personal Co2 footprints, and energy use, my panels produce three times my usage, with the overage going into the Sierra Pacific power grid. Anyone who would like answers to questions that you might have had about photo voltaics, is welcome to ask. I also drive a hybrid, so I can answer questions about that too.
