Permalink Reply by charlie mandeville on August 17, 2008 at 10:27am: Currently a self employed energy consultant. PE EE 30 years plus experience in designing nuclear/oil fired/coal generating plents. Participated in EIS studies of various power generation plant configurations. My experience has shown that wind and solar power are limited to precise locations and cannot be more than 10 percent of the total energy solution. Studies in my area recently show 25 year payback analysis. More research is required into more energy efficient solar concepts. By research I mean basic research and innovation into photovolaic materials sponsored by private industry not government funded. My position is that nuclear and coal must be the part of the energy solution plus clean coal research and offshore drilling.; ▶ Reply to This
