PickensPlan

Arkansas has a couple of sites about alternative energy...

http://www.arkansasrenewableenergy.org/index.htm

http://www.arclimatechange.us/

However, Mr. Pickens' Plan, by its very scale, would need to be a federal program... For the moment, the best support we could give, would be contacting our members of Congress from Arkansas http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home/ and make sure they are aware of this plan... After seeing several commercials tonight, I am not sure who could NOT be aware of Pickens Plan...

Any other suggestions..???

Congress letters always seem to help, if not just to show support. However, letters and inquiries to auto companies showing an interest in alternative fueled vehicles may help.

A mass organization and assembly of some sort showing support in public view to the powers that be seem to always show an appeal to lawmakers. It'll be like a civil rights march for auto drivers.

Or, we could use wind power for transportations also. It took the vikings and Columbus to the western world. Everyone pitch a bed sheet to the top of your car.

I for one get so discouraged when all the automakers want to "advertise" are the big trucks and SUVs... I want to see ads so I can compare the various hybrids... Will we ever see this kind of ad campaign..???

Aimee, don't be discouraged. The U.S. automakers have been broken down by their attitude of bigger is better. Last week they went to the federal government for a handout. My daughter bought a Honda Civic Hybrid SIX years ago! She hasn't had a bit of trouble from it. I think we will see new car concepts coming online soon. The battery for plug ins has been an issue, but I think they will work it out. Of course, it the U.S. automakers will always be behind the curve on this. But we consumers will have some real choices very soon. P.J. Whiteley

I just get upset at all the "deals" they offer on the big SUVs and pickups, but nothing on smaller cars...and no mention at all of hybrids... I want "deals" on those cars..!!!
