ARTISTS ROUND-UP

THE POSSIBILITES ARE INFINTE! The purpose of this group is dual. First: to literally round-up all artists in the PP Army. Second: to establish a single location where artists can make themselves known to each other and to all on this site.

The word “ART” is derived from the Latin word ARS, ARTIS, which means TO JOIN TOGETHER

There is a particular manner of communicating (an incredibly powerful one) that can be, and is, used as a two-way bridge between the coarse suppressive brutalities of life and the higher more expansive universes from where one can experience vistas of freedom, aesthetics and action never before imagined. This way of communicating can actually circumvent blind ignorance and disintegrate such lower based emotions like antagonism, anger, hate, resentment, fear, grief, despair, hopelessness and even apathy. Communicating in this manner can instantly turn a hard time into a good time and on occasion even raise the dead. In this way of communicating bridges are built upon which we travel from despair to hope and from old realities into the new and, as yet, uncharted ones. The manner of communicating that I am referring to is what we know as ART. Art is incredibly fluid throughout the entire range of human emotions and it can reach in to caress, sooth and revive even the darkest pockets of almost completely solidified emotion. With adroit execution art can instantly place you into the bowels of a particular unthinkable and painful brutality then rescue you with a single note, a lyric, a word, a touch, a taste or an image.

Art, if correctly used, is a wonderful tool to be used in the process of education. Using art one can by-pass many of the fundamental barriers to learning thus achieving rapid duplication and elevated understanding resulting in a higher order of civilization. The point is art is one hell of an effective tool but it is just a tool. It is the intention behind how the tool is being used which is key.

Many years ago I heard a guy put it like this: Life can be like an uncovered wooden box on two iron bars being rapidly dragged across frozen ground by a four-legged hairy beast. . . or . . . life can be like a one horse open sleigh dashing through the snow. Which expression (wavelength) of life would you prefer to reside in? Hence, it is suggested that art is not just a manner of communicating; it is also the quality of the communication.

The knowing use of art toward the attainment of the Pickens Plan goal is critical to the success of the game. The artist that resides within each and every one of us has at hand the means by which to seek out and reveal the infinite aspects of our goal for all to see as it sits there in the future waiting for our arrival. Truly, the artists have at their disposal the means by which to greatly expedite this movement into a new paradigm of energy and much more.

Artists are recognized and acknowledged as being the senior and most key players in the game Pickens Plan. That's my truth. You may or may not agree with it. -Monte

Hi everyone:
I just joined this group after Monte telling me about it. How amazing!
We were just notified that our video entry has become one of five finalists picked by The Pickens Plan Citizens Video Contest to be voted on this week for a chance to represent The PIckens Plan on the website in the week leading up to the Presidential election :)
I am THRILLED :)
Please consider going to the Main website and voting for us to win.
The video shoudl be up by Mnday afternoon.
Our entry is titled "Players for The Pickens Plan."
I wrote the song and played upright bass, my husband Jonathan produced and performed, and one of our friends played fiddle :)
We are moving to Nashville this year, and actively scouting property up that way to turn into year round food organic food growing, music and art community, and sustainable teaching facility where individuals and groups can come learn and live if they want.
Kind Regards,
Tedi May

I posted this on Henry Schlatman's Page http://push.pickensplan.com/profile/HenrySchlatman

He is very gifted. Art may be the way to convey the message. I know my method wasn’t successful.

(THE MESSAGE) Paint it, draw it, sculptor it and compose it. Make people laugh, cry and wonder why they haven’t done it.

In the message below – you are the others.

“Born in the 40s – I guess makes me a child of the 60s. Maybe I and others like me helped you and your intellectual growth in the 70s; i.e. shouting from corners for environmental awareness, trying to show others their lack of humanitarian fulfillment because of their lack of enlightenment for human needs. Most people share and have a need for entitlement. You appear to have remarkable understanding. Who are your really? Your discourse differentiates you from others.

You know as well as I do that the only thing that will change our future is intellectual mind shifting. I’ve been a proponent of mind stabilization my whole life. I’ve never been as gifted as you in articulation but I tried. My failures in the last 30 years in trying to stabilize America’s energy waste and the pathetic loss of life because of carbon use shows my inability to convey my message. I pray now that people will digest some intellectual gifts given to them by you and others.”

Getting rich on WATER ? Is this TRUE? Say it's not so Boone? Read on:

I got this message this morning. We need public works to employ and shore up this economy not private greed. Water and Gas are the American Peoples treasure.
Say it's not so Boone?!

Over the summer he was all the rage - a Texas oil billionaire ready to make a difference and get the U.S. off of foreign oil dependency. Pickens certainly advocates drilling more American oil, but also came up with a reasonable-sounding plan to make wind power a reality. "We're the Saudi Arabia of Wind," he said. Then he spent $58 million to sell the idea to the American people and to force pro-wind legislation through Congress.

People quickly responded to support his efforts. Environmentalists praised him. Pro- free market advocates have flocked to him, invited him to address their conferences and hailed him as a hero. That's the Public Relations story. It's not the whole story.

I've written many times of the dangers of Public/Private Partnerships (PPPs). This is corporations and governments joining forces in an unholy alliance to use government power and private money to take over such public entities as highways and water systems using eminent domain, non-compete clauses and profit guarantees. It's not free enterprise and it's not limited government. It's corporate fascism that creates government-sanctioned monopolies.

Pickens has developed a creative twist to the PPP model and now he plans to get rich with other people's water. Water? But most Americans thought his plan was about wind. It appears that the wind idea is a clever smokescreen to the real moneymaker.

Roberts County, Texas sits on top of the Ogallala Aquifer, a huge underground reservoir that stretches all the way to South Dakota. It so happens that T. Boone Pickens has a ranch in Roberts County and he set aside eight acres of that land for drilling into the aquifer.

Here comes the interesting part. Pickens turned those eight acres into a "town." To pull off that feat, Pickens needed a special change in Texas law to allow it. It's interesting to note that he made $1.2 million in contributions in 2006, apparently to the right legislators. Can't say for sure, but he did get his special privilege and a town was born on eight acres of the Pickens ranch, complete with two whole voters - both of whom happen to work for T. Boone Pickens. Then there was an election in the new town and the two voters agreed at the polls to make this eight-acre municipality a special fresh-water district.

Now Pickens' little town has all the power of any community. He can issue tax-free bonds (meaning he can borrow at a largely discounted rate), and he has the power of eminent domain, if he needs it. Why is that important? Pickens plans to run a pipeline for his water to the Dallas area where he will sell it. He also plans to use the same route for his wind power transmission lines.

To construct the pipeline he will have to cross a lot of private land. Those landowners will receive (if they haven't already) a letter from T. Boone Pickens explaining that he wants to buy some of their land. If they refuse he will simply use the power of eminent domain to take it.

Welcome to business in the 2000s. Just don't call it free enterprise, and don't call its perpetrators heroes. Judge Roy Bean would have strung Pickens up in the nearest tree. He knew a rustler when he saw one.

Howdy,
Monte said (in a rather terse manner, just kidding) that I should drop by and check you group out. I am not really sure what I have to offer, except possibly I can debate like Mark Twain, I am a carpentar, and have a green thumb (when it is not black and blue from being a carpentar), I have a tin ear but love to think I might actually play my guitar worth a darn one of these days, and my dogs love me.
That said, glad to be hear I look forward to getting to know you folks (although when it comes to political or economic discussions you want me gone) and what ever I can do to help just give me a shout.

Monte, wearing the Idea Artist hat is at his eazel and focused. I am not ignoring you. I will be back. This is a great idea I'm working on and it's got my full attention for the moment. But before I run back off to the idea eazel I want to leave you with this thought.

"Build it and they will come."

It's a wonderful romantic concept but it is not true. Maybe....sometimes it is but in most cases there are myriad variables involved. If you don't believe me start a new group and then don't tell a soul about it. Wait and see how many people show up. It will be a disappointment. If I am wrong about this I am more than willing to be disabused of the notion. But...in the meantime, please promote this group to others. The more artists that sign in the more people that come to learn of this group's existence the more rich of a resource this group will become to ALL.

Thank you all for being here. You are each and everyone a true teasure! I am proud and extremely fortunate to be among you.

May we always desire to play a better game and create a better tomorrow (for everyone!).

Chrissy Comment by Chrissy on October 5, 2008 at 4:33pm
Hi to all,

My name is Chrissy, I am a self taught photographer and videographer. I am always interested in capturing the moment. I have other interest such as writing and singing but overall it is my emotional nature that sparks all of my creativity. So when I am "in the mood" so to speak, that is when I involve myself with one of the many things I do best...art. My most recent movement has been seeing the world behind the people in my work. It's beautiful and I am afraid to lose it. Which is why I am excited to be part of PickensPlan! I look forward to reading more about all of you.....

Hi folks,

I suppose it is vanity that compels me to share something I wrote years ago. I hope you relate to it. I think it came to mind as appropriate to share because of the challenge we now face, the opportunity to really do something that might make a difference and something we will be proud to have associated with our name.

THE COIN

Our lives are vested with the value we place
on the moments of which they consist

And bear the stamp of the visage of the person we become as we buy and sell, labor and govern, contemplate and worship, love and bond.

The coin we mint may be a copper penny or a golden sovereign.
The impression may be clean, clear and distinct or blurred and shallow.
The design may be simple or ornate as we choose.

But we shall mint only one coin by which to be remembered.
