How about the wind patterns here in georgia.Any chances of installing wind turbines here.

Hopefully Mr. Pickens will be our next "Ben Franklin". We can't keep giving our sworn enemies more and more ammunition. The solar and wind will run our infrastructure. The natural gas will run our cars for twenty years, and hopefully by then, we will figure out the electric or hydrogen car. Great plan. Let's make it happen. Good luck America.

Greetings Friends,
We all need to thank Mr. Pickens for explaining the energy problem that we as a nation face. Earlier it was one Group (users) pointing fingers at the other Group (suppliers) and vice versa. The problem is real. It was magnified to some extent, in recent times, by speculators. But, the truth is we are importing more oil every year and producing less. We are sending billions of dollars overseas.

I like Mr. Pickens Plan but I think it needs to be supplemented by other plans. It by itself will not get us to Energy Independence. It will just buy us more time. For this reason I have posted a petition for Energy Independence .

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/windenergycorporation

Please (a) sign the Petition and (b) forward it to your friends. United we can achieve Energy Independence and avoid this constant financial bleeding of our great nation.
Thanks.

Regards and Best wishes,

Hey Group,

My motivations for joining this group are to involve myself with an organization that actually cares about our current energy crisis. I am not a bussiness man, I am not an actor, I have no aspirations for public office. I am a father, a husband and a hard working man that believes in this country.

I don't know all the scientific reasonings and ramifications of Global Warming, but I do belive it exists. I do know that our dependence on forein oil exists. I believe that if we don't do something NOW, and accept the sacrfices that go along with it, we will be saddling our children with a situation of unimaginable scope and the American Dream will never be a realization for them.
I work a great deal and my time is limited, but I will commit to doing what ever I can to support this cause.

I see natural gas as a bridge to the hydrogen economy. The natural gas technology with a few modifications is transferrable to hydrogen. This is very important to me since I am a proponent of hydrogen technology. Bridging is an acceptable method of achieving the end goal of hydrogen production. This will intensify the hydrogen research and bring the technology online much quicker.

California has been asking for these changes for years so they can develop a comprehensive infrastructure transferable to hydrogen in the future.

I do not care which politician makes the proposal as long as the result is getting off the foreign oil bandwagon as quick as possible. This will reduce our foreign dependence very quickly.

This act will help many Americans by reducing cost and creating a nationwide training system throughout the Vo-Tech education system. Millions of jobs will be created and millions of gas technologist will be educated on natural gas and hydrogen technologies. This is a good common sense approach to bridging.

Here are changes it will make.

NATURAL GAS VEHICLE RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, AND DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS – This is a big deal it is directing the EPA to develop alternatives to the present certification procedures to streamline and centralize the process.

Expanding product availability by assisting manufacturers with the certification of the engines or vehicles described in paragraph – EPA is directed to release propriety data to manufacturers so they do not have to figure out the OBDII system by guesswork (A very big deal)

CERTIFICATION OF CONVERSION SYSTEMS = COOPERATION AND COORDINATION WITH INDUSTRY – This is designed to streamline the certification process and remove the adversarial system now in place.

Waive all fees applicable to small volume manufacturers for the certification and conversion of alternative-fueled vehicles – Dramatically reduces the cost of a conversion kit.

Waive requirements for recertification of kits for the conversion of vehicles in any case in which, as determined by the Administrator – More cost reduction

The kit has been previously certified for the model of vehicle to be converted; and neither the kit nor the design and specifications of the model of vehicle to be converted have substantially changed – More cost savings = less expensive conversion kits.

Modify such regulatory requirements relating to OBD systems as the Administrator determines to be appropriate to provide flexibility to small volume manufacturers in reprogramming OBD systems to be compatible with the use of alternative fuel – Huge savings and allows many more companies into the industry = less expensive kits.

Permit small volume manufacturers to include more vehicles and engines in a single engine category to improve the cost-efficiency of emission testing of converted vehicles – less expensive kits and more competition = dramatic savings

OLDER VEHICLES — the Administrator shall waive emission certification system requirements for a vehicle that is over 10 years old or has over 120,000 miles that is powered by natural gas – I really like this one because it is designed for the working poor and the youth with older vehicles. The cost of these kits would be astronomically low.

Pickens Army,

There may be relief in sight. We need to track this legislation and make sure the American people are protected as it moves through congress. This could open up the conversion market if we hold our representatives and senators feet to the fire.

Here is a piece of legislation that proposes to deal with the natural gas regulations on the federal level.

Senator James M. Inhofe of Oklahoma Introduces Drive America on Natural Gas Act and we need to show our support. This is a first step on the road to energy independence.

Below is the contact page.

The regulations of certification are addressed in a way to open up the market. Finally!!!!!!!!!

We have to drown out the foreign oil Lobbyists in Washington. Collectively We have to become the VOICE for changing our reliance on foreign oil, by Vocalizing our Support for the wide scale use of Alternative Energy Producing Systems.

The ACTION we can take Today is to influence our LEGISLATURE. We must change the thinking in Washington. This is accomplished by CONTACTING your Senator, Representative, Governors.

The following links to Websites are one way of Contacting Congress. I find these links to be the quickest at getting to the "contact web form" used by most of Washington.

Join us at Carbon Neutral as we move forward with our plans to Flip a City.

Vacant Buildings - Holyoke

Download the pdf (4 MB) and get a sense of where we have to start.

Then watch us grow and implement a plan to install grid tied solar pv systems on all rooftops, and most importantly, bring an entire City back to life as Carbon Free as possible.

A bipartisan group of 27 elder statesmen is sending an open letter to both presidential candidates and every member of Congress saying the country faces "a long-term energy crisis" that threatens the security and prosperity of future generations if swift action isn't taken.

The group includes Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell and six other former secretaries of state or defense, former senators of both parties and a half dozen former senior White House advisers and other Cabinet officers for both Republican and Democratic presidents.

"We must re-examine outdated and entrenched positions," the group says in the letter to be sent Wednesday to the campaigns of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and to his GOP rival John McCain, as well as members of Congress and all 50 governors.

"...Foremost we must rise above a partisan differences and be united in our efforts," they wrote.

A copy of the letter was provided Tuesday to The Associated Press.

The call to action comes amid widespread anger over high energy costs from $4-plus a gallon gasoline to the certainty of record heating costs next winter and the prospect that America's energy priorities will have to be revamped in coming decades to address global warming.

Despite volumes of rhetoric — often on largely meaningless proposals — partisan disagreements have stymied action on energy issues in Congress this year.

Republicans have hammered away at opening new areas for oil and gas drilling, while Democrats have largely been targeting large oil companies for new taxes. Neither side has signaled a willingness to compromise.

That has to change, the elder statesmen wrote, focusing on the next president and members of the next Congress that will take office in January.

The open letter was the idea of the Institute for 21st Century Energy, a group affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has embraced largely Republican, pro-business approaches to dealing with energy problems. The Chamber, for example, has called for expanding domestic energy development, including opening offshore areas long off limits, and criticized new taxes on oil companies.

But retired Marine General James Jones, the institute's president, said the call to action reflects broad, bipartisan views and doesn't lean on one party or the other.

"There's an energy tsunami coming, and when you see it coming you better get on top of the wave, or you're going to get crushed by it," he said in an interview.

Jones, the 40-year military veteran who has had discussions about energy with both Obama and McCain, said he hoped the letter's sense of urgency will influence both campaigns. "Both candidates are still embryonic in their thinking about this," he said.

It's not only politicians who are faulted in the critique.

"We demand more energy and complain about high prices, but we restrict energy exploration and production. We embrace the promise of energy efficiency, but we are slow to make adjustments in our energy-intensive lifestyles," the letter says.

Production of electricity, for example, is taken "almost for granted." At the same time, people oppose new power plants and don't want to invest adequately in energy technology research, the writers say.

Thomas "Mack" McLarty, former White House chief of staff to President Clinton, said the letter emphasizes that "the next president is going to have to put energy right at the top of his agenda" and do it quickly.

"There will be a window there to build bipartisan consensus to move forward," McLarty said in an interview.

The letter includes 13 broad recommendations. They include aggressively promoting energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption, increased commitments to both nuclear energy and renewable energy sources, making coal more environmentally acceptable and moving transportation away from oil as a fuel.

Other senders of the letter include former Secretaries of State James A. Baker and George Shultz, former Defense Secretaries Frank Carlucci, William Cohen, William Perry and James Schlesinger; former senior White House advisers Howard Baker, Robert "Bud" McFarlane, Kenneth Duberstein and Brent Scowcroft; former Energy Secretaries James Watkins and Spencer Abraham; former CIA Director James Woolsey; former Commerce Secretary Donald Evans; former Democratic Sens. J. Bennett Johnston, Sam Nunn and Charles Robb; and former Republican Sen. George Allen.
