Understand the Pickens Plan
1) What is the sum total of the Pickens Plan to date?
Installing a series of wind farms from Texas to the Dakotas in order to generate the same amount of electricity currently being generated by NatGas, and pull that NatGas out of the Electricity generating system.
2)What is the purpose behind freeing this NatGas from creating electricity?
To have more NatGas available for use in the transportation sector. Why? To lessen our dependence on foreign oil.
3)What are the two basic issues directly affecting the building these wind farms that need attention by Congress?
The extension of the Production Tax Credit (PTC) lifespan and designation of Transmission Corridors.

T Boone did make mention of his interest in Solar on Imus in the Morning program 7/21/08, but so far no details.
Can America do more? I hope so.
Is the "more" part of the PP? Not as of today.
Is T Boone opposed to other forms of Alt Energy? No, every time I've seen him speak to Senate Cmtes, he advocates use of solar, geo thermal etc. Anything American that can help us diminish our dependence on foreign oil.
Does it prevent us from implementing Alt energy strategies in our lives? On the contrary I hope it inspires us. My plan, the DavidBakerPlan is to use solar and wind to provide energy to my house. I also recognize this PP site as a resource to connect with others of a same mindset who might get together to create their own energy generating farms/plants/companies.
Will the PP change to ultimately be a comprehensive National Energy Policy? I think the PP will be one facet of a NEP. I hope it inspires the acceptance of large scale Alt Energy plants/farms by the Congress and the American public.
I hope that the members of the PP can be a United, Focused group, dedicated to the cause of making these wind farms a reality as quickly as possible. To that end, WE can affect the focus of Congress. We can affect the duration that it takes Congress to address those two KEY issues of PTC and Transmission Corridors. We can let our elected officials know that the American Public thinks dependence on foreign oil needs changing. Once a week, send a letter to your elected representatives, both state and national! Please.
