PickensPlan

PickensPlan Peers,

My name is Joseph Armour, and I would like to organize a group that will produce a business model for our movement to use. As PickensPlan gathers momentum, it is important that we empower those who wish to move beyond discussion, and proceed with action. By utilizing our collective strengths, I believe that we can develop a business model for establishing medium to large-scale wind farms that are commercially viable. Please post any ideas that you may have for creating this business model.

I'm interested in participating in discussions, call to action, bus. mod. dev., etc. I am a director for a nationwide wireless carrier and have extensive experience in tower siting across the U.S. for fortune 100 to smaller wireless carriers and tower companies. These principles of leasing, zoning, permitting, land-use, construction, etc. are very similar. Let me know if you'd like to engage me for any ideas. Thanks,

Blake

Hi Joe,
I'm interested in small wind. Have you looked at the concept of distributed power? There are tremendous transmission losses involved with the centralized power generation scheme we have now. Conversely, a small wind farm of several 10-100KW generators, community owned, augmented by rooftop solar, does not experience those losses. Does anyone know what average long distance transmission losses are?

If you are looking for a better model, I'd suggest looking at distributed power, not large-scale. Commercial viability? What about the voluntary carbon market as an integral part of your model?
