Hi Joe,
Thanks for the link to the maps. I know there has been talk about building a wind farm in Logan Co. I need to find out more about it and if it is still being considered.

Hi Central Illinois!

I was very glad to find this group. I'm not a mover and shaker, more a helper and encourager. I have no experience with alternative energy and I don't work in the energy industry. I'm a homemaker. But I like that someone has a plan instead of just complaining, and I like that it is a large scale plan, not just "what every individual can do".

I agree, John, we need to be promoting biofuels as well here in the midwest.

In case aybody wonders where in Illinois is the most likely places to build Wind Turbines (Wind Farms), check out the following link from the Dept. of Energy:

I think you will find the map of value... Joe

Friends:

Since this is Central Illinois for Choices, let me offer that we are located in the “ethanol belt” and PickensPlan needs to be fleshed-out, a little, in regard to carbon-neutral, renewable, domestic biofuels.

Before we get bogged down in discussions of technical minutia, food versus fuel debates, and other myopic subtopics, allow that if only about 5 percent of the capital invested in petroleum production during the last seventy-five years had been spent on biofuels, we might have $1.00 motor fuel right now. It would all be carbon-neutral or carbon-favorable, and there would still be enough food to go around; all because of a dramatic impact of technology transfers into the mainstream production paradigm.

Having said that, Midwesterners and others associated with PickensPlan, may wish to level a little more concentration on the biofuels aspect of our indigenous energy policy.

Thanks and regards,
John D. Cochran
