Conversion Now

This site is not associated with any manufacturer, but it welcomes their input.

For the Pickens Plan, and its army, to achieve their full potential should CNG conversion kits be accessible for ALL American's vehicles? Would accessible and affordable CNG conversion kits allow us to use less foreign oil, while allowing us to retain the ability to use traditional forms of fuel when we don't have access to CNG. Should we tell our legislators to support and introduce legislation that makes CNG conversion kits more accessible and affordable! Currently, the Federal EPA “certification” process for CNG conversion kits requires that each kit be certified for use on each vehicle and each model year of that vehicle. Is this appropriate? If you have insight to current CNG conversion kit technology, the justification (or lack thereof) EPA certification regulations, or the politics of these issues, please help educate us all and leave a comment or create a discussion!

What a plan, getting 2 million people to each contribute $100.00. By indicating you are a PE, it is clear that you have no idea it would it would take, or cost, to achieve even 5-10% of that number. Reality Check, please.
What it takes is a fair priced product and a VIABLE market, and unfortunately we aren't there yet. Keep trying!

I strongly believe that the CNG is the first top priority that we all should concentrate on and make this happen. The other forms of alternative energy are many years away. Whereas CNG, we can immediately expahd what is already available and being done in various forms and degree of development. We just need to somehow assemble and gather everything that is going in the private sectors and formally organize it. I propose that we form a CNG Working Group that formally draft and develop a strategy in how to proceed with this.

Thanks David for your conclusive statement "The development of a stand alone On Board Diagnostic (OBD) that works across all engine types could eliminate the certification requirement on the conversion kit and place the emphasis on the diagnostic system. This would allow millions of vehicles to qualify for conversions overnight.". What is the possibility of having this universal kit available in relatively short time? Are there anyone working on this one? It sounds like a formidable barrier to go through. The goal is a good one but perhaps if we scale down the problem and go from there. For instance, let's use the number of people under the Picket Plans as the customer or user base who would buy and install such a device. This means we have 2M plus users. Now, if we could all come up with a concensus which vehicle or class of vehicles that we could concentrate on and develop a conversion kit for. The money that we will use for this purpose is the money that could be generateed from the group now in the making under the Invest in American Independence Plan. With 2M members contributing 100USD per share from each of the members, we have 200M to work with and build this conversion kit from the technical resources that we have internally or have it subconstrated to a R$D firm.

Hi Bill,
You know, we are going to get off "THIS DAMN FORIEGN OIL", and start a whole energy industry, and lot's of "free benefits". I have four solar sytems cranking out "value-added commodities "every sunny day".

I gre up at a remote filling/staion/motel/restaurant from 1952 to 1956, and we made all our electricity from two 4 cylinder propane powered generators, and believ me, you become a "shady tree mexhanic" par none, or the freezers thaw out.

Bset Regards,

It is an effort to show Congress that Americans are serious about changes in our
energy policy and ending our dependence on foriegn oil.

Mike,
Couldn't you just provide a link to all that info??? Nobody reads it. If there is anything worthwhile it all becomes a blur. Watch some adverts: keep it simple, short and focused. There are too many long epistles all over the Pickens Plan. Just Remember: K.I.S.S.
