Ok. I work for a solar energy company here in the USA. We have some pretty amazing technology if I do say so myself (I didn't develop it, I just work here and believe in what my boss is doing). However, this economy is not condusive to getting funding (we need to get our stuff through UL testing in order to sell it (and it will be affordable) and get it out). I'm not asking for money here. I'm asking for any contacts any of you may have, any assistance. And yes, middle eastern countries have been contacting us trying to invest and my boss is refusing. He knows they will either exploit it or bury it. Check out our website http://www.solaroadtechnologies.com See the technology for yourself. Leave us a comment. Thanks!
Tax dollars would be great, but we'd really like to do it without having the American people foot the bill. The problem is the special interest groups. By the time they get all their promised $$, it is almost not worth getting federal help. I've looked into getting grants, but like any federal money, you have to jump through about 100 or so hoops. Funny how they make it so easy for them to take our money and so hard for us to get it back.
There is another company, out of California I believe, who has a similar design and uses some kind of mirror or reflective material under the solar device. I did spend a day at work googling solar companies and came across them.
Does your company have any data on actual performance, especially with the generators? Are there any test locations with these up and running? I think your web site needs something that readers can put their hands on, taste, feel. What are you calling affordable? That's a relative term. There are no estimated pricing, that I can find, on your web site. No ROI calculations.
I'd be very interested in the generators since they would compliment my solar powered LED light project. Need some ROCK SOLID info, here, offered by your company.
I'm not quite sure about the office cube lighting? Perhaps in large corporations who use oodles of fluorescent lighting. However, my 12 x 12 office has no more than one 15watt CFL. That's it. Your cubical lighting absorber wouldn't work for my office.
How about a smaller scale cubical light absorber. For instance, my kitchen has two fluorescent fixtures. Perhaps a thin film absorber placed somewhere in the kitchen to say, recharge batteries!?!
I'm very interested in your company's products. But consider the fact that 9 out of 10 people have no clue what you're talking about (when visiting your web site). You have to think FIRST GRADE, spoon feed the general public with pictures, diagrams, more pictures, and real simple short sentences and paragraphs.
Maybe some flash or video, hey!?! Utube it.
I understand your "fix" on UL. UL is nothing more than a marketing company and they've done a nice job of convincing regulators, municipalities, and such that UL actually means anything. IF your company is credible, then, it should be able to stand on its own feet without the UL until such time you generate enough revenue to do the UL thing if that is what makes you feel fuzzy warm inside. It's just an additional expense that you'll pass on to me and I don't want to pay you for that. Period. I'd rather pay you for YOUR credibility and integrity. I've bought and sold non-UL and based on my buying wisdom, I have YET to be bitten in the back end.
There are FCC regulations that have to be met regarding radio transmitting devices, there are safety issues. Your company should have fully investigated these and worked them into the product without having some lab rip your products apart. What I'm saying here, is, is know everything about your product and know exactly what UL would say about your product before you take it to them. Yesh?
I would like to sugest you boss gets a great att at law to get the dough from the middle east, they have the money and if its good enough for the state of new york(new chip fab in upstate ny billions of petro bucks) its should be good enough for your boss, boss needs to just needs to be tough and in your face about plans, and maintain control (or somebody smart boss trusts)....Carl in Albany
your right they will exploit; I work with Earth Care Green Products as a Master Dealer and even here in the Usa be careful the market is huge and people are wanting to jump in. short story- a group that was a supplier wanted to have inventor sign a no compete form he didn't they took his idea patented it he was angered and invented an even better product he was lucky on that but china has been trying to copy the technology. I also work in the Cryogenic industry and They supply liquid nitrogen and Argon to many solar company's in Michigan, Ohio, Pa many have expanded beyond belief and many jobs there not sure how they got their funding but I guess with a great plan anything is possible. Greenville, Mi just had major expansion for solar mfg may help may not?
Sue your local utility for betrayal (and advertise the process) in the public trust, for the right of free trade in clean energy.

Hail Rome...
At the risk of repeating myself, if you want to get through this, you better find some way (with whatever machinery you may have available) to reach the objectives posted previously (one example to follow).
Its like the Bush daughters being told that their membership to the elite is not the real club they were led to believe, (those positions have already been filled). The only thing they are good for now is; tour guides for then the real club members decide to go "slumming".
5 PAGES SINCE MY LAST POST ! WELL, SHE SURE IS A POPULAR GIRL!!!
"Said the 800 lb. gorilla in the bedroom, that nobody wants to talk about"...
Again, it's not that I disagree with -ANY- post presented on this section, but before you go talking about "revolution", you better make sure you have a way of feeding everyone first. A whole lot of corporate structure (in the US in particular) has the same self-deluded / self-destructive, me first, idea, to keep the control matrix in their favor. And, unless we can present ONE SIMPLE 10 second sound bite to keep the "tobacco boy philosophy" at bay, it will not change.
We will get patronized and forgotten. Count on it!
Here is mine -again...
"Personally, to end a lot of problems, I would give every household in the US $1,500 -each- month, if they help solve the climate condition. Free Trade for CLEAN Energy = $1,500 income per home ($.05 / KWH) each month!
If the home can be shown to pay for itself (@$1,500 / mth for fair trade in clean energy) then the banks will be required to co-operate, and we all get to jump on the train home. Free housing = -negative- carbon footprint ; yes it is profitable...*
WHO CARES HOW THE ENEGY IS GENERATED, AS LONG AS IT IS CLEAN? "
Free trade for clean energy is like cigarettes in a prison yard; it will always be a valuable commodity, since it is a retail consumable, and the more energy efficient / cost effective constructive home you have the more money you make, and the more incentive there is to keep it away from the "krack kookers" these areas now have problems with.
Since I also have a tendency to "gloss over" the details posted by other persons, I can accept the statements presented by everyone (I have built a home using my methods, and pictures / plans are on my page, it will work, -not that my method should be the only pattern available-) since my last post.
But, from what I have seen so far, "IT IS IN THERE!!! See my page -again- for details...
So, beat it, (improve on this -simple- concept, for presentation), or go home,... smoke 'em if ya got 'em...
I don't know that my boss wouldn't be opposed to that. The trouble is, the last investors we had wanted to take control of the company and he was looking out for us, his employees. If there was a way to combine forces AND get funding, I'm sure he would be all for it. He just wants to change the world with a solar panel. My biggest problem is I believe in what he is doing and getting people to listen is frustrating. Lots of people give alternative energy lip service but don't want to invest. And with this economy, I understand that. But there comes a time to either walk the talk or shut the hell up (people are always saying "we need alternative energy, we need to get off foreign oil" you all know the speech. But when it comes time to ante up, they all get really quiet.)
Before this economic crisis, I was getting ready to purchase solar panels. Now that I am not receiving a paycheck, I have no choice in the matter. I would also like to switch to a diesel engine and run on biofuels, but I do not have the resources at this point to do so. The economic crisis has interrupted the energy crisis and the two are combining with other problems to brew the perfect storm. Let's hope that we can unify so that our country comes out on top.
Ugh! Another investor, another fortune in legal fees, another deal fallen through. Why do all these companies want to take over? I know, greed. But my boss is standing firm.
Our pilot program is up and running (last I heard). And I'm still plugging away without a paycheck. I haven't given up hope and I still believe that we're gonna change the world with a solar panel. :) Maybe if I run naked through the Capitol and get on the Nightly News people will listen? (I'm kidding, I wouldn't run naked through the Capitol. I'm too old these days for running naked in the streets. LOL) My mom did mention something about a big protest in DC in April. I will start planning my sign.... I'd take a billy club to the head for the company....
Hey gang,
Still plugging away in hopes of changing the world with a solar panel. My boss has a few contacts in China that look promising. No, he isn't selling the technology, he is licensing it! The people in China may buy the rights to sell it there so that we will have funding to manufaucture it and sell it here. Plus, we got a call from someone from T. Boone's camp a few weeks ago. I guess those 100 or so emails paid off. And one of our state senators called (meeting scheduled for next week) and asked why our stuff wasn't everywhere in Maryland. Because of the State of Maryland is the short answer. After our meeting with the Dept. of Transportation, I'm surprised our roads are driveable. Seriously. Hopefully we will be getting funding, go into full scale manufacturing (and hire a boat load of people...yay!) and make a difference. Just thought I'd give you an update.
