If for some reason or the other we can not accomplish Mr. Pickens Plan with the new congress and senate in the first 100 days after they assemble in 09, I would like to be ready with another movement that will enable us to make our own changes after the 2010 elections. We are here for a common cause that is worth fighting for and I believe will bond us together. Our economy in in shambles, our environment is threatened, all because of oil, big banks, big business and their congressional ties.

Join with me, lets be prepared to raise up and be heard and back up our words with action.

Our great nation has to become energy independent or many of us will suffer, economically stable or many of us will suffer, environmentally stable or many of us will suffer and die.
T. Boone Pickens has started this snow ball effect in the energy sector of our lives and I applaud him, and I whole-heartedly support him and his project. I have seen this snow ball of suggestions turn into an avalanche of hopes and dreams for many of you and me.

When in the course of events and with what has conspired in the past weeks, months, years with the economy and environment we must include these Efforts with energy if we would survive. I have said in other discussions on this forum, and I proudly say again, I am a nobody from the middle of nowhere. I am a husband, a father, a carpenter, a businessman. I have tried like so many of you to sway my congressman, woman, and government to work for we the people, and use the power we have bestowed upon them, truthfully, clearly, righteously, with honor for we the people. As one we are nothing to them. As many joined together in a common cause we are a powerful force to be recognized and have voice that will be heard
The failure of our two party political system to lead, protect, defend, and secure this great country is why I take pen in hand and try to set right the wrong our government has conspired with.
Therefore I create this group with the fervent hope that we the people can band together, and with justice for all improve on the words penned below. Feel free to voice your opinion, add to or subtract from the pledge. T. Boone we support you, will you support, help and guide us.
Our forefathers started an avalanche in their day, I have seen the support for our legacy sway. Please let this be our time, to this end I pray.
This pledge is taken from the greatest document ever penned “The Declaration of Independence of The United States of America.” I in my feeble and humble attempt have reworded this great document to reflect our times. Please read, reconstruct, add to or change, but do not criticize, I am very thin skinned, lets discuss energy, lets discuss the economy, lets discuss the environment, we are all in this together. If change is what they want, change is what we will give them because I am tired of waiting for them to change.

We the people of the United States of America in order to form a more perfect government and stop the insanity and greed of our elected officials and the ability of big money to influence said officials have bonded together to form the Energy, Economical, and Environmental Party with and in the Pickens Plan.

It is the right, privilege, honor, and duty of each member of our great country to preserve protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, and To right the wrongs beset upon them by the presently elected two party political system.

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for the people to oppose these political bandits and the corruption to which they have become connected, and to re-establish the integrity and honor of the powers of the office bestowed by their fellow man, and the respect of the opinions of the people and that mankind requires that they should adhere to the will of the people when elected.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. They have let the tort system operate unabated to benefit themselves and others

They have ruled with fear and hatred to suppress their fellow man

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated silence. A politician whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Criminal, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

We have warned them from time to time for their lack of governing and corruption. We have reminded them of the circumstances of their corruption. We have appealed to their since of justice with no avail. We must therefore set the record straight and fine it necessary to denounce them as a reprehensive of the people and endeavor to remove from your seat in the great halls of our government and hold them accountable for their actions.

We, therefore as the people of the United States of America in general assembly appealing to the good people of each state and district for the morality, goodness, and decency of our intentions, and by the authority of the good people of these United States, solemnly declare that if elected we will serve the will of the people we represent. We absolve all allegiance with those who would unlawfully profit from our reward granted by the people. This is the heart and soul of the ENERGY PARTY and the people of the United States of America.
Past elections, past promises of change, past disappointments of promised change have brought us together to plan ahead of disappointments this time.

This is not an attempt to find a presidential candidate at all because history shows us when a 3rd party aims for the White House they fail and we take two or three steps back and stumble to the ground becoming comical fodder for the media. This is to encourage people to run for congress as a 3rd party candidate in 2010

It really shows up when you take into fact that there has only been 5 or 6 posts on the entire PP today.
We are apathetic until it bites us in the ass and then its too late because by then the government has got into it and tried to fix it.
If we sit idol and let this program go the way of the Canadian or British or European healthcare systems it will be our fault.
I have been looking madly for a leader since the ENERGY PARTY group was formed, I was hoping it might be Boone, but now I think not.

Jason, I agree with you completely, and I think if more people actually paid attention to the way things are going, and got as angry about it as you are, we might see some rational changes. Unfortunately, my impression is that most people go to work, go home, watch the tube, argue with the spouse and offspring, go to bed, get up and do it all over again without giving ANYTHING much real thought, and wait for their elected officials to fix whatever's wrong. If that weren't the case, there would be a lot more members of the Pickens Plan than the tiny percentage of the population who have signed up. I also think that's the real reason Mr. Obama got elected, not on his policies, but because he gave the impression that he would fix everything, don't worry. People want to be led, for the most part, even when their own intelligence tells them the government is useless. Again, that's why this Energy Party has some real potential. I believe if there was a rational, integrated plan to put forward, and the funds available to get it in front of America in a form they would actually pay attention to, most of them would follow REAL leadership. The problems are so entrenched though, and most Americans so apathetic, that it's hard to see a way to make progress.

I'm sorry if I sound cynical, but last night I went for a drive around several middle class neighborhoods close to my house, and most of the driveways and garages still have at least one, usually two, expensive gas hogs displayed for the neighbors to see. The houses are all closed up, with the AC running full-blast because the developers cut down all the trees and the roofs are all stylishly black. And even though it was a lovely evening, I only saw one kid outside playing. The rest, I assume, were inside on the computer, doing the video-game thing, becoming another generation of uninformed, entertainment and connectedness obsessed followers.

As for me, I've worked all my life. I've owned small businesses and been an employee. I've developed several marketable skills, but the way things are now, thanks to all of the expert fancy maneuvering by the financial industry, I can no longer keep up with my own health care insurance payments. If I'm hurt, or become catastrophically ill, I'm toast. I won't be a burden on the rest of the taxpayers. I exercise, watch my weight, try to eat relatively healthy, and take some responsibility for not putting my hand in the mower when it's running. But I know that MANY Americans run to the doctor at the first sign of a sniffle, keep the kids inside so they don't develop natural allergy resistance, and allow themselves to become dangerously fat.( 60% are overweight) What do you do when the whole idea of taking some personal responsibility for the quality of ones own life is a thing of the past? I shouldn't post this, but it seems like the government and everyone else is off of energy and i need something to talk about, I may start a discussion to see if government healthcare draws any comments
I know many working poor that work their butts off for their families and pray that they don’t get sick or hurt where they have to miss a day or two of work, or that their children don’t get sick to the point of needing medical attention or medicine.
Let me tell you from experience why because I was part of the problem when I had a small business and worked low wage employees. I say I was part of the problem, but maybe not. My small business was a very low income business that you couldn’t really define as a small business. Sometimes it was down to me and one worker when times were slow and hard. Like the late 70’s when carter was president.
I JUST STOPPED WRITING THIS POST AND LOOKED UP MEDICARE AND MEDICACID.
I may have been a very small part of the problem but these two are the root of all of our problems now, and I see no way to come up with a healthcare bill now unless these two are fixed.
I see now why these two programs have spawned generations of lazy, worthless leaches on the government dole at our expense.
DON’T GET ME WRONG HERE. I believe that we should look after and provide help for our children, for the truly disabled, and our aging citizens who grew up and worked without insurance all of their lives at no fault of their own. This is where the my rubber meets the road for me.
These two programs look like they were taken straight from the hand books of big screw you insurance and passed by the SCREW YOU UNIVERSITY known as big government. The DO AS WE SAY GROUPS not AS WE DO GROUPS because we are the KNOW WHAT’S GOOD FOR YOU GROUPS, for the shut-up and quit winning groups known as US.
I’M on a soapbox now and we better get pissed and fight this new healthcare bill. Don’t worry about anything now because under these two bills and big government you are covered if you don’t have healthcare now. The only thing you have to worry about is your credit score if you want to.
Right now the arms of the doctors, hospitals, clinics, and emergency rooms are tied behind their backs. They have to treat you and anyone that walks through their doors no matter what, and I mean anyone.
Now the doctors, hospitals, clinics, and emergency rooms have the right to bill us and both programs, but we or they don’t have to pay if we don’t want to or can’t.
These two bills must be “FEEL GOOD” programs for big government and big insurance co. at our the taxpayers expense. They do some good in what the programs were intended for, but are cratered with loop holes for the un-insured and the insurance co. and mountains of forms for doctors, hospitals, clinics, and emergency rooms to fill out for reimbursements if any. It is cheaper to write off the expense than to pursue it. It is easier to pass on the expense in the form of higher cost for the law abiding insured patients. This results in higher insurance costs to us that are passed on by the big insurance co. NOW OUR HANDS ARE TIED.
To me the government and insurance co. are destroying our healthcare system as we know and pay for it.
The problem is not us that can afford coverage at this time or the working poor who can’t afford coverage and tries to stay healthy. Its with the lazy, worthless leaches on the government dole at our expense.
Who or what separates us? The government can’t do it now, how are they going to do it with a blanket plan and pay for it? The insurance co. don’t care because they can charge us through the nose and then pay what these two programs don’t pay or pay no more than they allow.
The problem is un-solvable if we allow the government to solve it. How do we stop the government?? We can’t!!! We are going to get a healthcare bill passed by the end of the year whether we want it or not. GOOD LUCK, I’m going to get off of my soapbox now. Who am I that I should say anyone is a lazy, worthless leach? But I know a few and so do you all.

Kevin, that's an interesting looking aircraft. I'm now curious as to your background in aviation, and how you're doing your structural analysis on the airframe and wings. There's a group you probably know of, the Experimental Aircraft Association, that you might look into if you haven't already.

Burt Rutan, the guy who won the first X-prize for getting a the first privately funded spacecraft into...space, developed a foam-core wing molding system many years ago. Basically, one hot-wires a polystyrene foam blank into a close-rough airfoil shape, and then applies layers of fiberglass to the outside to form load-carrying skins, finally sanding and shaping with fillers to get the airfoil profile just right. It's VERY low cost, but requires a huge amount of work, and if the final profiling isn't correct, performance suffers. I'm sure that you know that as little as .004" deviation from design on a laminar-flow wing can affect performance.

Injecting foam into the wing after it's skinned without having the skins supported in a close-fitting, stout mold is asking for significant distortion as the foam expands irregularly. Again, I've actually experimented with this method of fabrication. Good production design removes as many areas for inconsistency to creep in as possible, and usually entails eliminating steps where you can. Through EAA, and some of the available publications from SAE, you might see what's been done in aviation up until now, and save yourself some time reinventing the wheel. Had the designers of the Cirrus carefully studied then-current German sailplane design and production techniques, the Cirrus would have been lighter, stronger, and MUCH cheaper to build, and of higher quality.

I'd really like to see that design of yours flying, and I'll keep my eyes open for a small displacement diesel for your other project.

By the way, the Germans have developed an electric, self launching glider, and Greg Cole, the American aircraft designer responsible for the wing on the Lancair Legacy, the Lancair Evolution, as well as his own line of incredibly light and beautiful sailplanes (Sparrowhawk, etc) is working on a rapid recharging system, last I heard. Well, again, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, this forum and this concept of a third party both have the potential to start changing things for the better, if we all do something and pull together, rather than constantly complaining. And as I've said, it IS possible for the little guy to get his own patent within the current system. When it's the only game in town, if you want to win, you play be the rules until you have the strength to change them. There HAVE been significant changes in the patent system in the past few years. Two of the biggies are the availability of the PROVISIONAL patent (since 1995), good for one year, that can be filed by anyone with half a brain. It's an informal way to get legally recognized protection for your ideas without a huge initial expense, and only costs $110 for a small entity. The other major change worth mentioning is the reduction in formal Utility Patent filing fees, down to $165 from $425 for a small entity, as of Dec. 8, 2004. What have been your SPECIFIC problems with the system? Maybe I can help you. ENGWER

Disillusioned with the patent process is just half of it, and the two party political system is the other half. They both could use an overhaul.

Using this thread to post teck info may be a bit crass, but it does keep the info moving around. I would suggest links preferred though. May be I could get a trade on some info on this post...; I am looking for a good post 2000, consumer reports recommended, in line 4 diesel engine, w/AT or CVT for my project, and in exchange, I provide the following incentives(s);
About the 3' dia. max mold, for composite materials, it just adds more complications when the molds are larger, from storage, to clean up, to consistency in the product lay up. I would prefer to use a method that utilizes the product as the mold in anything larger.

as an example;

In my wing design for a potential future project, I am intending the following process;

1/ drill and dimple the locations as required in the spars and aluminum sheet, and clean, 2/ primer all surfaces, unless the exterior wing surface is to be left clean, 3/ rivet the spars to the flat sheet, and form assembly into the shape desired with a handling jig,/ "ladder structural frame"* 4/ coat the interior with a good epoxy paint (may not necessary be spayed, but recommended), 5/ cure with large opening down, 6/ coat the interior with synthetic stucco (latex product) or a truck bed spray on liner (oil based product) -each require testing for longevity at this point- and cure, 7/ fill cavity with urethane two part expanded foam in such a way to contact small recesses well, and cure.

The flight controls are run along the trailing edge, with brake line sized hydraulic hardware, and the foam core can be trimmed out -some- for fuel location (I prefer a solid wing myself). The aircraft I would use it on has a 30 mpg use (powering up to 15,000 feet, and gliding with small reserve fuel for landing), in two PDE "buzz bomb" multi-fuel engines, producing about 150 (15 HP) lbs thrust each. I am also looking into using a battery system to thrust iron enriched water, turned to steam in a charged linear accelerator, for short term commuting (beats the cr*p out of Phoenix traffic), but that's another story.

First, I suggest that everyone visit Larry Aden's www.amass.us website. It's only one page, but it's an eloquent and timely perspective on a philosophy I think it would be good for all of us to think through, carefully.

Second, to Jason, I'm sorry you've become so disillusioned with the patent process and predatory business practices in general. It IS possible to get your own patent WITHOUT a lawyer. I've done several, and am processing some now. Rather than go into unnecessary detail, I recommend the book "Patent It Yourself", written by an ex-patent attorney and published by Nolo Press. I used the book successfully to get my own first patent, with no legal help. If you can do your own drawings, all you need is a good command of English, the ability to read and follow instructions, and persistence.

Third, to Kevin, I'd like to know your reasons for your opposition to molded composite materials over 3" in diameter. This isn't really the correct forum for in-depth technical discussions, but your post implies that molds are somehow a negative. Molds are repeatedly reused, sometimes for thousands of pulls, with very little preparation between cycles necessary when modern methods are employed. Molded composites make it possible for VERY sophisticated products to be manufactured at the grass roots level, with little waste, if designed and managed properly. I don't want to argue, I just want to understand your perspective.

Last, to Larry, I'd like to give you an example of why I think glass is one of the more desirable reinforcement fibers. The Cirrus SR22 aircraft utilizes a fiberglass composite, stressed skin fuselage, and the wing uses a laminated fiberglass main spar and stressed skins. Other than the main spar, the aircraft structure is mostly 2 or 3 layers of very light glass cloth in sandwich construction over a 1/4" urethane foam core. The entire airplane weighs about 1600 pounds empty, carries 4 people at 200MPH, and returns better than 15MPG at that speed. It is also stressed to 7gees. Glass fiber is cheap, and recent developments make it look like manufacturing glass fiber using solar energy is viable. William Engwer

I saw where Chesapeake oil said that the US was at full capacity for NG and production pumping was way down. I know they have all but shut down here after blowing in last year and drilling hundreds of wells.
I hopes this means low fuel cost for your project in WV.
