Are we bent (inclined) on self destruction? or are we being led there by our ignorance and greed?

Too many people using too many resources. Overpopulation is the issue that deserves priority attention if we are to curve what could be a dismal future for our progeny. Religious beliefs and growth...

Thanks for the heads up on the diesel engines.

Interested, that sounds to me like he is using "boosted" engine using natural gas to supplement the diesel.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Since the middle of last year I’ve been trying to convince our people of the advantages of the better usage of natural gas, which has proved to be a great help in the efforts of the Brazilians to become energy self-sufficient, which they are now.

For those who don’t know yet, Brazil is now the least indebted economy among the 37 largest economies of the world, thanks to the efforts they started in the 70’s with their Ethanol program and their massive usage of natural gas in any possible way, particularly in the transport of people and merchandise.

You can read more about it in my discussion Brazil is 100% oil independent. Why aren't we? And see some pictures about it in my pictures.

Even though the price of oil has lowered considerably in the last few months (thanks only to our financial crisis), I like to call your attention to a small business located in South Florida for a number of years that has already been silently providing alternative technology for the use of natural gas in diesel oil engines.

The company is owned by a friend of mine (he does not know I’m writing this). His name is Raul Llanos and the company is called Innotech Group and they have developed a conversion kit for Diesel Engines to use Natural Gas through a process he calls Fumigation.

According to his website - http://www.innotechgroup.com/technical.htm - Fumigation is the process of having the natural gas blended with the combustion air before entering the engine, which permits the usage of a simultaneous blend of 80% natural gas and 20% diesel oil, thus saving considerably both oil and money.

He has been very successful in retrofitting large engines for trucks, buses, locomotives and electricity generators which are saving many thousands of dollars for their owners and valuable resources not only in the US but also in several other countries, including Venezuela, Colombia and Pakistan.

He has retrofitted locomotive engines even in California, which has the toughest environmental laws in the US.

I encourage you to patronize his business because:
- It uses resources already abundantly available almost everywhere in the US,
- It saves a considerable amount of oil and money,
- It provides employment to our people anywhere a motor is retrofitted,
- It is a new technology developed in the Florida State.

I hope you’ll take the time to visit his website http://www.innotechgroup.com to learn more about this great little business.

Look at my pictures for some info about his company.

Thanks,

Getulio Bastos

Certificate classes are a good way to get an introduction to the enviromental science fields. I think you can complete them in between 6mos. to a year. Some of the jobs available in these fields include; waste management, air testing, water treatment, home insulation, and facilities management. HAZMAT requires more time and experience. These jobs may pay up to $40K yr. benefits included. Most employers will help you improve your knowledge while on the job.
I think every State has a list of licensing requirements, most based on EPA standards. They should have study guides and testing available. I've only seen this in California but I'm sure there are many more.
You can become a contractor and start a business with a license too.

This is a great idea Fred. Would be great if Members from their respective states would add state specific information on loans and grants also.

Here's some more info on financial incentives.
