Hydropower has proven as a clean and somewhat environmentally friendly resource. There are hundreds of large and small-scale hydropower projects throughout the nation, each contributing to the grid. In one sense, an immense wind generator project mirrors and complements hydropower energy.

Naturally, both face many issues and there are many important lessons learned from the recent history of hydropower projects. You can read about some of these issues in two articles Native Winds and Economic Power that address our Nation's Energy Policy.

Yesterday I checked out Boones plan. We Need A Movement!! This is a great start, educating people about renewable energy, Both Solar and Wind is whats needed to save our world from global warming. Energy conservation, is a nobrainer, like drive less, and use less oil. We need to get everyone involved to make a big change. Dave Bradburn Leavenworth, Wa.

I'm a farmer near Spokane, my way of life is intertwined with the weather. We have the wind, I say we do what we can to use it. The problem is the power companies. If you want to put in an alternative power source, the power company offers no incentive to upscale your system and produce excess power over what you use at your residence. A measly $2000 a year is what my power company will allow you to make in a year. One wind mill of the smallest size about 30 feet tall costs $10,000. I have some Ideas that would put the control of the situation in the hands of the land owner, but I won't impose. I hope to see more people concerned about this topic thanks for rolling the ball.

Thank you for starting this site. I do not live in your area but I am very interested on how alternative energy ideas develop across the country. Please include me on your updates and notices. I wish you much success. We are listed on the Pickens Plan as Mariah Power. http://www.push.pickensplan.com/group/mariahpower

This is a very good idea. With the right tweaking of the distribution network and fillling stations it is possible!

1. We need : a national standards for all states to be enact for net metering and that standards include 2 MW limitation on size. 25 kW to 100 kW will not allow business and industries to address their power requirements.

2. We need: The ability of community solar and wind farms to allow companies, homeowner to park their renewable machines and allow for net metering activities to occur instead on the premise. This would allow for orderly grid management of distributed energy systems.

3. We Need a compressive incentive program much like the Europeans but different. We need 50 Billion energy trust to be managed by the states for incentive either tax credits or rebates that can allow individuals, businesses and industries to adopt the renewable energy technology.
4. We have the technology today for wind and solar. Private venture funds are funding all type of systems and technology. With advent of 50% solar conversion efficiency by University of Delaware and MIT new organic dyes systems. the ball game is about to change. We need to support the DOE 10 Billion loan guarantee program already enacted. We need to pass the new SBIR and STTR program to provide 300K for phase I and 2.1 M for Phase II projects and national goal of 2 Billion for SBIR and STTR programs.

5. We need a real incentive for American to drive different cars manufactured in America by American, We need a Federal Tax credit that support high gas mileage cars and as the gas mileages increases the higher the tax credits.
6. Finally, we need to enact 10 year Production Tax Credit for wind, solar and other renewable energy. We stop the "stop and Go" policy of the past congresses.

Thanks Chris! I have edited the name- good catch.
Chris Comment by Chris on July 9, 2008 at 10:46pm
How do we fix the name so the group doesn't get confused with a holiday?

Hey Folks,

Thanks for taking the lead and creating a group. This is exactly what we are going to need to sustain this campaign and realize its goals.

My name's Brett and I'm the Director of Online Organizing for PickensPlan. I want to be as helpful as possible in making this group work for you, and coordinating with the rest of the campaign.

Here's a link to a discussion on tips for a successful group:

Welcome Eastern Washingtonians! (and anyone else who would like to join) Let me know what I can add to our group page. I know there are more of you out there who love the Pickens Plan! After we get a few people, I would like to start a discussion on Pushing the Plan here on our side of the state. Thanks!
