Although I am certainly glad to hear all the responses that I see on this forum, it is with a heavy heart I must remind you that all the talk in the world will get us no where. Our legislators continue to provide in my opinion lip service type of responses while thinking to themselves that this is just another passing fad in the history of the American citizen's response to big oil's indifference to what the public thinks. That's why the politicians continue to do little when it comes to our real concerns. I for one sent in a proposed project to the X PRIZE site to see if they could have any sway over the 40 years of foot dragging by the government and industry. The Hedtke Institute has proposed and submitted an X PRIZE project to which I place here for your kind review and consideration:

The premise:
The goal is individual home energy independence while producing
excess energy back into the grid for commercial use.. Through the
design and building of a working individual unit or an energy system
that basically functions independent of the centralized utility, it becomes
the basis of a grid of self sustaining energy generators that meets the
needs for urban homes. Once one home is able to attain that efficiency,
communities can too, achieving energy independence.

The justification:
The civilized world is no less in need of a energy source to meet the
needs of the urban jungle most of us call home, than any undeveloped
area of the globe. Thus the concept is the development of a power
generator unit for urban home use, that reduces our carbon foot print,
(basically by reducing or eliminating our existing centralized utility
reliance), while still meeting each urban individual energy demand.

The details of the project are listed at the Hedtke Institute site at this page:
http://www.stormynites.net/Hedtke.net/researchsuggestions.html

1] In your opinion is there such a device already in existence and what is it?
2] (what commercial venture has developed it?) or
3] Is this a project that is worthy of consideration?
4] What would you propose as a solution?
5] If you had a solution, would you contact the X PRIZE organization
to encourage them to entertain such a contest?
Their link is: http://www.xprize.org/accessibility

I hope that you too will go beyond these pages to encourage alternative energy support and prevent this from being another flash in the pan. I have also submitted this proposal to the International Networking organization called XING in their Alternative Energy forum, have links to it on my LinkedIn page, along with posting the full proposal on the Hedtke Institute site.

The reason gas is so cheap is because no one can afford to fill up their tanks, even at this price.I said long ago that inflation was bragged about being so low then gas would still be under a dollar. It isn't. Profits at Exon-Mobil at record levels. Even with the drop in demand. This rediculous roller coaster makes planning so difficult. More Green energies please !

The Plan looks better all the time and I hope more join the cause and do all I can to promote. We need responsible management of our resources with the technology we have envisioned to keep this nation out of more economic challenges.

Response to a letter I sent Governor Crist,

Thank you for contacting Governor Charlie Crist. Governor Crist
appreciates your concerns about Florida's energy needs and asked that I
respond on his behalf.

Governor Crist recently met with Mr. T. Boone Pickens at the Clinton
Global Initiative to discuss renewable energy opportunities in Florida.
To date, Florida has taken a very proactive position to support
renewable energy, alternative fuels and other clean technologies such as
compressed natural gas. Since the creation of the Florida Renewable
Energy Technologies and Energy Efficiency Act in 2006, which includes
rebates, grants, and other economic incentives for energy investments,
Florida has contributed millions of dollars to stimulate research,
development and commercialization of renewable energy.

There are a number of solar energy projects under development in Florida
positioning it as the second leading state in the nation for solar
energy production. Additionally, a one megawatt solar panel system will
be installed on the Orange County Convention Center making it the
largest rooftop solar panel installation in the Southeastern United
States.

In addition, Florida is investing in wind technology. Florida Power and
Light is committed to the viability of large-scale wind generation in
Florida. Up to six utility-scale wind turbines will generate
approximately 13 megawatts of electricity. The second project,
constructed by Progress Energy, will look at small-scale wind energy
generation using turbines with a smaller capacity for businesses and
residences.

Like the Pickens Plan, Florida is currently considering all
transportation fuel options available, including compressed natural gas.
The Governor's Energy Office is also working with the state's Clean
Cities Coalitions to promote alternative fuels and advanced vehicles,
fuel blends, fuel economy, hybrid vehicles, and idle reduction. There
are currently 15 compressed natural gas stations in Florida that
primarily serve local government and private business fleets. This
office will continue to work with other interested parties to increase
the availability of compressed natural gas in the marketplace.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact Governor Crist. For
information about Florida's environmental policies and alternative fuel
initiatives, please visit www.myfloridaclimate.com and www.flgov.com.

Sincerely,

Warren Davis

Be careful of rebates...the companies say they are there to close the deal but when you try to apply you may find the fund is already exausted. Florida has a program providing up to 20K for homeowners but the provision to give businesses a 100K rebate has consumed the funding for the next 2 years (and maybe beyond).

I have called a solar company for an estimate, on a KW system the cost was 14,561.00 with a federal rebate for florida 12,000.00 and a state rebate of 2,000.00 it then would be a net cost of 561.00 and installation. any ideas on install, company just drop ship with hardware and blueprints. if anyone has anything that could be helpfull please advise. if anyone would like any info about this company or state and federal rebate guide, i will be happy to forward

Louis Lino
