Does anyone know what we have going on in the way of research into renewable energy for the state of GA? Feasibility studies etc? Are our state and local governments doing anything in the way of an actionable plan? That's a question; I'm not saying they're not or being negative.

I want to be involved in change. I know that grass roots movements can have an impact on our society. I have not read enough and do not feel as if I can speak about energy issues until I do. I will become more informed so that I can be useful.

This is the only way to bring about self-reliance in energy. Citizen involvement and the power of the ballot box are the only things that will get attention from the 535 self-serving incompetents we have in Washington, D.C. However, we don't need them to get us on the path to energy independence. I believe Boone Pickens is just the person to pull this off.

I am sick and tired of the foreign policy of this country being dictated by ensuring the free flow of oil from the Middle East. We are slaves to countries such as Saudi Arabia. Why else would we keep supplying the Saudi Royal Family with Billions of Dollars in weapons systems other than to ensure the free flow of oil into the United States. This plan is not the be all end all but it is a great start in the right direction.

My Brother was almost killed in an IED attack in Iraq on August 1st, 2007. Whether we want to admit it or not, the two wars in Iraq were more about oil than the freedom of the Iraqi people, the Kuwaiti people, or Weapons of Mass Destruction. If we can produce our own energy at home then we can end these foreign adventures, and not coincidentally drastically reduce the terrorist threat to the United States. But most importantly, no more Brave Young Men will have to give up their lives for cheap gas.

The main reason I am for T. Boone Pickens plan is that I don't want my children to be dependent on foreign oil. I want them to rely on themselves and not dependent on anyone person or country. Moreover, once we allow drilling or the Pickensplan to move the stock market will start booming again.

SUBJECT: Solar-izing Georgia...
Academically speaking we could reproduce every bit of electricity that Georgia consumed last year with basic 'non-fancy' fixed position solar panels (simply 125 watt rigid panels) arrayed in less than 20 miles x 20 miles.... I have had half a dozen people arrive at this same conclusion.
According to the U.S. Dept. of Energy... we could do the same for the whole country with an area measuring 110 miles x 110 miles...... take a look: http://www1.eere.energy.gov/solar/pv_quick_facts.html

P.S. Please understand, I am offering the above notion as an item that is purely 'academically' noteworthy (because on that level it is valid) - there are technical challenges to it that must be addressed such as transmission line power loss and storage. However, it places the concept out there in a tangible fashion that demonstrates that we could move toward solar in Georgia in a massively meaningful way.

coal to liquid fule technolgy

farm waste to biocrude fuel

I'm all for solar, wind and biomass fuel - as well as nuclear, which is much safer than a lot of people think.

Hey Folks,

Thanks for taking the lead and creating a group. This is exactly what we are going to need to sustain this campaign and realize its goals.

My name's Brett and I'm the Director of Online Organizing for PickensPlan. I want to be as helpful as possible in making this group work for you, and coordinating with the rest of the campaign.

Here's a link to a discussion on tips for a successful group:
