and don't for get the added water saving benefits of a composting toilet....in fact gray water systems and composting toilets go well together because they both save water in entirely different ways.

Hey,

i just signed off as 12% owner on 23 acres...most is a sharply descending woodland gorge (good for tree saucer promo units and my yearly venison intake).....so now the challenge is design and construction of tree saucer production infrastructure on the 2.8 acres of tired agricultural land at the top of the ridge....i'm working on getting a roll of poly prop from:

http://www.calearth.org

i don't know what's up with these guys....there not answering the tele...anyway,i'll be constructing a rain catch reservoir in the "bowl" by the tree line Via a clay loam super adobe dam wall.. at the inside base,a pea gravel covered drain tile will feed a shallow well jet pump..that way i'm only pumping 25 feet (the neighbors water gets lifted 375 feet via a community well sucking amps from the neighboring coal plant).....then i'll be starting on the 254 square foot steel framed geodesic super adobe "all weather shelter" whose central concrete pile will be the base for the 10Kw vertical axis wind turbine (solid class 3 winds up there)...then the passive solar/gshp reg. production facility with 500 sq.ft. radiant main floor and 200 sq.ft. tool loft.

i hope

Learn About 2009 Door and Window Tax Credits

March 11, 2009

This week Pella summarized some of the new tax credits for energy improvements. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) signed into law Feb. 17, 2009 includes tax credits for qualifying energy-saving home improvements. Immediately replacing the previous Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 tax credit for ENERGY STAR® windows and doors, the new stimulus bill significantly raises performance requirements for windows and doors qualifying for credits.

* Eligible window and door products now have to be equal to or below a 0.30 U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.30 for all U.S. climate zones.
o The U-Factor measures heat transmission through a window or door — a lower U-Factor equals better insulation.
o SHGC measures how well a window or door blocks heat from sunlight. The lower the value the better the unit keeps out solar heat.
o We have some good information on decoding window specifications on GetWithGreen.com
* Between Jan. 1, 2009 and Dec. 31, 2010, U.S. homeowners may claim a tax credit up to 30 percent of the cost of qualifying replacement windows and doors installed in their principal residence, not exceeding $1,500.
* The tax credit applies to the price of qualifying windows and doors, but does not cover installation, on-site preparation, assembly or sales tax.
* You can find the qualifying Pella products at Window Tax Credit. (How bummed am I that I bought my Pella Designer windows in November of last year!?)

*Please be sure to consult your tax professional to determine if the windows you purchase are eligible for the U.S. tax credit.
