Hi everyone!

Have you heard about the RichmondBuild Program? It's a program done by the city of Richmond, CA that provides free and low-cost solar solutions to Richmond's low-income residents and trains low income residents to install them. Solar Richmond is the lead partner in the campaign. RichmondBuild gets its funding from federal, state, and foundation programs. 32 Richmond students completed the program as of December 2007 and all but 5 recieved jobs in local businesses within weeks of graduating. All of them were granted job interviews. RichmondBuild has become world renowned nationally and internationally as an exemplary training program achieving a 90% placement rate with entry wages starting from $18.33 per hr. GreenForAll sponsors the program. The overall goals are, of course, to promote the green movement and to lift people out of poverty. All of the things this accomplishes is preventing violence, drugs, gangs, starvation, and the robbery associated with poverty. Van Jones of GreenForAll announced that the U.S. Conference of Mayors signed on to the GreenForAll campaign! This is a major breakthrough! Hopefully cities across the country will start adopting programs similar to RichmondBuild.
