On Monday, January 26, 2009 the INFORUM divsion of The Commonwealth Club of California will present a program entitled "Getting Your Green Dream Job." This program will include a panel presentation and career fair featuring employers and organizations that offer career development resources for individuals interested in careers that focus on environmental or social responsibility.

This event will take place starting at 6:00 pm (5:30 pm check-in) at The Commonwealth Club, 595 Market Street, 2nd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105 (directions). This program is free for Commonwealth Club members, $18 for non-members, and $7 for students (with valid ID). Please go to http://change.gov/openforquestions sign-in or sign-up for an account at Change.gov and ask the administration what they plan to do with regard to energy independence and the Pickens Plan.

University of Michigan offering alternative energy transportation grants

The University of Michigan and research group Fraunhofer are partnering in a $2.2 million program to provide grants for alternative energy in transportation projects.

Seed money grants of up to $200,000 annually, for up to two years, will be available for groups with researchers from U-M and Fraunhofer who are working on new ways to fuel transportation.

Projects will be evaluated by U-M's Office of the Vice President for Research, Fraunhofer and the Michigan Memorial Phoenix Energy Institute. The projects will be awarded in 2009 and must be finished in two years. For more information, visit www.energy.umich.edu.
