The Southern Boarder region receives a constant breeze which blows north up from Mexico, and the Baja of California. It is a natural, and logical region in which to install Power Generating Wind Turbines.

It's also the closest point in the United States to the Equator, therefore perfect for Solar generation.

Rather than being ignored by Our Federal Government. Given up to lawless international criminals. It could be protected by a jobs creating National Security Boarder fence project.

Then developed for production of Green Solar, and Wind Energy. It's a vast, untapped natural resource that should not be allowed to go to waste.

Thx for the invite. I'm obviously not Hispanic. (Have both Northern, and Southern Heritage.) At term which confuses me as Latins don't like to be called Mexicans. And Mexicans are 1st to say their not Latins. So, a useless term... Why it's P C to refer to people with a term none of them like is just another sign of the times.

Anyhoo, guess were all red blooded, O2 breathing median sized, hairless primates - what's good for the "Hispanics" should be good for all Humanity.

Long Beach offers financial assistance for Clean Trucks Program.

The port announced that it will be offering up to 80% for those who participate in the leasing and grant program for private truck owners seeking to replace their trucks in order to meet the new standards outlined by the port’s Clean Trucks Program. Three programs will be offered by the ports to provide subsidies to owners, and they are as follows:

The lease-to-own program allows the applicant to scrap their old truck for a pre-approved new truck with a seven-year lease agreement. After the conclusion of the seven year lease agreement, the port will provide a subsidy towards the purchase of the leased truck equivalent to either 50% of the remaining balance or $7,500 for a diesel truck and $13,000 for an alternative fuel truck.

The grant for purchase option allows the applicant to exchange an older truck for a pre-approved new truck, utilizing the port grant. As much as 80% will be covered by the grant, and the applicant will provide the remaining cost. However, the older truck must be scrapped.

The third option is a grant for retrofitting an old truck. The port will provide a one-time grant of up to $20,000 towards the equipment needed to retrofit 1994-2003 truck models.

No matter which option the owners choose, the port’s Clean Trucks Program will require all old trucks to be progressively phased out by January 1, 2010. By October 1, 2008, all trucks older than 1988 will be immediately banned.

Long Beach terminals begin air-quality program today.

The Clean Trucks Program will start today october 01 2008, phasing out dirty trucks from port service by barring all 1988 and older vehicles. By 2012, all trucks entering Port terminals must have engines that meet 2007 federal emission standards, which are 80% cleaner than existing engines.

The Port will begin assessing a temporary fee of $35 per a 20-foot-long cargo container to fund a one-time truck replacement financial assistance program that will help truck owners to quickly comply with the clean truck deadlines.

Thousands of truckers have already signed on to the Port’s Clean Trucks Program, promising to transition to clean trucks. The Port is urging all truckers to join in improving air quality and moving cargo.

James Hankla, president of the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners, said, “Our Clean Trucks Program will bring a new generation of clean trucks and clean air to this region, and begin a new era in port security.
