Illinois Group...I have a company that does promotional items and have a bunch of eco-friendly items. I feel that if you are going to use promo items let them be green (i.e. 80% recycled plastic pens and recycled tire jar openers). I am trying to get all of my customers to use green items. I realize this might only impact the environment slightly, but when you think about the amount of products put into circulation each year it is staggering.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to get the word out more efficiently, I am open to suggestions.

Hi all, please find below a letter to my local Congressman. Please copy this letter (or use your own) and send to your local Congressman. Please do this so that we get coverage throughout Illinois. Additionally, I am going to alter the letter a bit so that I can send it to my local County Board members and Township officials.

Please consider...

Hon. Jerry Weller
United States Congress
2701 Black Road, #201
Joliet, IL 60435

Dear Congressman Weller,

In recent years, Americans have experienced the largest increase in gas prices in memory. Considering that much of this increase is due to the incredibly close proximity of global oil supply versus global oil demand, and that many in Congress refuse to allow for expanded domestic oil drilling, it is important to make tough, strategic, and alternative choices in our nation’s energy policy that will bring prices at the pump down while at the same time end our nation’s dependence on others for the production of our energy.

Longtime oil man T. Boone Pickens has recently offered one possible solution to our present situation. And though he does not offer a panacea that immediately eliminates the energy crunch we presently face, his is one very good idea among many that will steer us in the right direction.

I humbly ask that you investigate his plan, as I have, so as to educate yourself of his idea and understand what he has proposed to do; and what he has begun to do.

His idea is one that can be accomplished without much involvement by the federal government. He has focused his efforts on two companies he controls: Mesa Power and Clean Energy Fuels Corp. Please let me summarize his plan for you and what he proposes to do with each of these companies.

First, he proposes to better utilize a commodity that our nation has a sheer abundance: natural gas. T. Boone proposes to slowly transform our nation’s automobiles from petroleum-burning to natural gas-burning. Already, Clean Energy Fuels Corp has signed up several municipalities to transition their municipal vehicles from gas based to natural gas based. By constructing inexpensive natural gas fueling stations at local village halls, police stations, public works facilities, and the like, we have seen buses, police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, taxis, and all other municipal vehicles in these areas completely end their reliance on petroleum based fuel. And with the cost of natural gas much lower than petroleum based fuels, these municipalities have made an investment which will bear fruit in the near-term. Slowly, as more and more cities make this transition, and as more and more commercial vehicles are equipped to burn natural gas, our nation’s dependence on energy imports will shrink.

Secondly, T. Boone, through his second company Mesa Power, is constructing massive wind farms in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas to generate nearly 20% of the nation’s yearly electricity needs. Already, T. Boone has leased 400,000 acres in Pampa, Texas where he is currently installing nearly $1.5 billion worth of General Electric wind turbines. The goal of this project is to generate enough electricity – without pollution – to compensate for the natural gas stocks that will have been diverted for vehicle use (as stated above). And as I said, T. Boone has already done this, without government intervention or government subsidy. This is a business man, making an investment which he clearly believes will be profitable for his company, environmentally friendly and in the best interest of our nation.

I invite you to contact me for more information on this plan or ask that you review T. Boone’s website dedicated to this plan: www.pickensplan.com.

Please note that we have started an online group on T. Boone’s website that will serve to lobby our state’s congressional delegation in order to spread the word on T. Boone’s efforts. In the first two weeks of our effort, we have enlisted coordinators in 22 Illinois counties, enlisted several state-college coordinators, and tapped into a whole lot of energy for this plan. We will not stop organizing until we have coordinators in each Illinois county and enlist multiple coordinators in each of the top 10 cities in our state.

Our group asks that you investigate this plan and find ways to help move our nation’s energy policy in this direction. T. Boone’s plan, combined with expanded domestic oil drilling should be on the top of your priority list in Congress.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Christopher S. McNeil

I like the plan I think we need to reduce our dependence on oil but also cutting carbon from our atmosphere is a priority. If nothing is done the planet will not be the same for our children.

We are providing our customers at the paintball field with information regarding "The Plan". At the moment this is all we can do.

My wife has invited all of our friends and family to join, and we hope to glean information from the local alternative energy representatives in Ogle County, Drs. Robert & Sonia Vogl.

I truly hope the Alternative Energy Fair draws a large crowd this year. They are still looking for people to man booths and volunteer their time.

The Pinkens Plan is good. Wind has excellent potential. Because of costs and time requirements we need to look at alll the other potential options to eliminate our dependence on Foreign Oil. These would include solar, photovoitaic, geothermal, biomass, nuclear power, clean coal technologies, ethanol, and other options. It would also be a good idea to look at the products which require petroleum in their manufacturing process. I believe the complexity of the issue will require significant government involvement. We need some regulation, tax credits and incentives for private sector. It can't hurt to write our representatives.

Friends:

Since this is Illinois for Pickens, let me offer that we are located in the “ethanol belt” and PickensPlan needs to be fleshed-out, a little, in regard to carbon-neutral, renewable, domestic biofuels.

Before we get bogged down in discussions of technical minutia, food versus fuel debates, and other myopic subtopics, allow that if only about 5 percent of the capital invested in petroleum production during the last seventy-five years had been spent on biofuels, we might have $1.00 motor fuel right now. It would all be carbon-neutral or carbon-favorable, and there would still be enough food to go around; all because of a dramatic impact of technology transfers into the mainstream production paradigm.

Having said that, Midwesterners and others associated with PickensPlan, may wish to level a little more concentration on the biofuels aspect of our indigenous energy policy.

Thanks and regards,

California Cities to Offer Solar Loan Program

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger enacts legislation that allows cities to finance solar installations on the roofs of privately owned homes and businesses.

California homeowners and business owners may soon be able to turn to their cities for loans to install costly solar-panel systems, even if they don’t live in Berkeley.

On Monday, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Gov. signed a new bill into law, Assembly Bill 811, which gives cities the ability to provide low-interest solar-panel loans to homeowners and small businesses.

Solar-power systems can cost around $30,000 for homeowners and more for large office buildings.

The legislation, authored by Assemblyman Lloyd Levine, D-Van Nuys, also provides loans for energy-efficiency projects like replacing air conditioning units or installing dual pane windows.

Residents would pay the loans back though assessments on city utility and property tax bills.

Greetings Friends,

We all need to thank Mr. Pickens for explaining the energy problem that we as a nation face. Earlier it was one Group (users) pointing fingers at the other Group (suppliers) and vice versa. The problem is real. It was magnified to some extent, in recent times, by speculators. But, the truth is we are importing more oil every year and producing less. We are sending billions of dollars overseas.

I like Mr. Pickens Plan but I think it needs to be supplemented by other plans. It by itself will not get us to Energy Independence. It will just buy us more time. For this reason I have posted a petition for Energy Independence .

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/windenergycorporation

Please (a) sign the Petition and (b) forward it to your friends. United we can achieve Energy Independence and avoid this constant financial bleeding of our great nation.
Also, if you want to become an partner in this endeavour let me know how I can contact you. It will be a Labor of Love for a Country that we love. Just think what Energy Independence will be like. What it will do to our standard of living. The opportunities it will offer us, our children and grand children.

I will like to count you all in. Give me a chance. Please sign the Petition. Get the ball rolling.
Thanks.

Regards and Best wishes,

Alankar Gupta
