I am a new member and I am excited about the possibility of energy independence. I am an alderman in a very small city that borders Chicago. I will be sending letters o congress this week.

There is a lot more to a windmill than a shaft with fan blades at the end of it. Lots of technology and engineering go into these things. It is not something you can build in your backyard with a welder.

As far as getting them made for you; you are best to contact electric companies that build farms to either buy or lease your land and let them deal with the building of the mills and upkeep. But I am not sure 51acres is enough for a farm. These things need room. And they must be far from residential or traffic areas as they are dangerous when something goes wrong.

I am Brad's wife and I approved this comment.

Seriously, we want to help and look forward to hearing about the Ogle County Renewable Energy Fair. We are unable to attend due to prior engagements.

My wife and I live across the street from the Byron Exelon Nulclear Facility. We have 51.43 acres and would love to put a windfarm on our location. We lack cash flow to make it occur, any ideas on how to make it a reality?

We believe in harnessing the natural resources that are within our grasp. There is no reason to burn coal for energy, or to keep using oil. We are tearing up the planet and need to stop now in order to save our children and their children's heritage.

Dusty,
Can I add your name for Boone County?
Dusty Miller Comment by Dusty Miller on July 21, 2008 at 9:55am
I live in Boone County. We just approved a wind farm in our community. It was knocked down once before it finally passed. How do we go about disspelling the misconception that these wind farms are a blight on the rural landscape. The wind farm just off I-39 in central Illinois is beautiful. Count me in for sending a letter to my local congressional representatives.

We all need to thank Mr. Pickens for explaining the energy problem that we as a nation face. Earlier it was one Group (users) pointing fingers at the other Group (suppliers) and vice versa. The problem is real. It was magnified to some extent, in recent times, by speculators. But, the truth is we are importing more oil every year and producing less. We are sending billions of dollars overseas.

I like Mr. Pickens Plan but I think it needs to be supplemented by other plans like other wind energy plans, solar energy , hydro, tidal, etc. It by itself will not get us to Energy Independence beacuse one solution is not the optimum solution for the whole country. Mr. Pickens Plan will buy us more time. For this reason I have posted a petition for Energy Independence. It is based on wind energy as presently wind energy is the most cost-effective of all reneweable energy alternatives

Please (a) sign the Petition and (b) forward it to your friends. United we can achieve Energy Independence.

Thanks.

Wouldnt Butane be better than Compressed natural gas? With butance, it liquifies at alot lower pressure. Just look at them clear disposable cigaratte lighters. Jeremy Cole Canton IL

I love the idea of Americans pulling together to save our Country, our environment and our children’s future. I am located in Rock Island County on the Rock River and would like to help organize this area.
I was thinking of making a web site for this area.
I built water towers for a living in the 80's and would be willing to climb again for this cause. I would love to build a wind generation system. I am a certified welder and helped build the world's tallest pedestal water tower in Minnesota.
I have been fighting for the environment for years. Check out our web site at www.q-cat.org .

Let’s build them!
