I sent a suggestion to have our location on google maps kind of thing where we could draw a circle and invite folks to events in our own particular area but haven't heard anything.

You aren't alone in wanting some kind of tool to help bring "local" folks together and hold an event.

Excellent idea. To get this community moving we need to know each other. COME ON NOW BOONE we need action, this doesn't seem like a tough modification and would really improve our ability to grow.

this is my first day here, but I feel having the ability to meet others in the area would greatly advance the organization. be like little fish, alone you are apt to be eaten, but as a group you have strength.

Great idea . . . nothing would do more to cement members of the "Pickens Army" together to push this plan through the Washington "muck" than local members getting together to increase membership and develop local awareness.

I could not agree more. If we are going to moblize people, we must be able to do it by Congressional District, State and region of the country. We live in a Tri-STate area of Southern Illinois, Indiana and Western Kentucky. At times, some of the political groups on both ends of the political spectrum in this region have shared ideas and techniques. Also at times joined one another's public demonstrations.

At present, I have no idea if there are any other people from this region who are the least bit interested in this movement. I would like to know.

I have been saying the same thing too! I'd like to figure out who's on here from my city and how I can get involved, either in organizing events or going to a meeting or something. I think if this is going to work we have to get groups together at the local level. It's the only way to build a solid base and get through to Washington.

This is a great idea, but I can understand how it would be a problem for an administrator. For example, I would like assurances that opponents to these efforts (ex., powerful oil lobbyists) couldn't pay hackers to target members by location and somehow harrass them or infect/affect their computers. Could they then access secure information or transactions conducted on these computers?
I don't want to sound paranoid, and I don't want to cause paranoia in others. However, I appreciate how motivated the rich & powerful can be, and they have the means to bankroll methods that I cannot dream of. Believe me, it's a leap of faith for me to go this far (i.e., join this effort via the Internet).

If it is simpler to put up a simple search within 10/25/50/100 miles of a zipcode please do that. While the overall plan is good, specfics of it are unique for each region. I live in a small city in a Tri-state region so searching by state and/or city doesn't help much.

How can we ask Mr. Pickens to talk to people about the plan? We need help in Florida because people are so complacent.
