John, Once again, I'll tell you that I agree with you on cng, in every way, But I am going to disagree with you completely on ethanol. Most ethanol and bio diesel plants here in Iowa are investor owned, and I know of many people that have shares in the local plants and they are all local people from most walks of life. Don't assume that they are all controlled by "Big companys". Yes they are heavily subsidized, BUT NO , No one is Shoveing It down anybodys throat, I noticed that you use CNG. Like I said before Nobody forces you to buy ethanol,Heck, nobody forces you to buy gasoline! You should also take note,, Wind generation and solar are also "heavily subsidized, and I venture to say, If the subsidys don't continue and if Cng doesn't get a lot of subsidies, It won't go very far either! I know , it's sad, but that's reallity.I do think that we should look at putting wind and solar up near each community instead of spending Billions (including subsidies)on building new super power transmission lines across country to supply the coasts. I also think the governments, Fed ,State and local Need to offer incentives for localized CNG filling stations and private (homeowner, business) cng fill points. I would also like to make everyone aware of something that has happened that I have been afraid of since the ethanol boom started.I read yesterday that an investment management company from Jamaica has Bought Verasun energy company, Verasun is the "largest ethanol manufacturer in the country". The scary part is, the company that purchased them is managing the money for a "Global investment group", Which in my mind, translates to ARAB OIL ! Why do you think they would come here and buy out the competition, or the only thing that,so far has made a dent in the oil market? Just watch, Soon they will start buying up our Natural gas fields! Sound PARINOID? Just watch and wait. Rich.

No one said I did not like Iowa. I just believe that E85 (A heavily subsidized fuel) refined and controlled by the same big companies that control the oil. Has been shoved at us as the alternative.

Nat gas is a stand alone fuel, Which is one of the most abundant clean (unsubsidized) burning fuels available and Half the cost of any other viable fuel on the market today.. Lets build some pipelines and fueling stations so that we can deliver the nat gas to the midwest market. That would create a few jobs? Take a look at our westeren states they have figured it out with CNG.

In response to John who posted on Sept.15. Hoorah for you for useing CNG. I wish we All could do that and I have the hope that we can make that happen ,along with many other sources of renewables. It has been my experience That a lot of people from Mn.seem to jump at any oportunity to take a jab at iowans. first, I worked in the construction of 29 big wind generators in northern Iowa along side A lot of people from Mn. I got very tired of their derogatory remarks about Iowa and Iowans, and I spoke up at a safety meeting of the entire crew. I said that I noticed that here was all you folks Making your living IN IOWA. While at the same time running us down. You could have heard a pin drop. Having said that, I would also point out to you,John, That we are Building a lot of Ethanol Plants in Iowa, and lo and behold ,there are a lot of Minnesotans "down here" makeing their living, constructing them. You should realize that Minnesota has A very large number of E-85 ethanol pumps (more than Iowa). I think If you don't like Iowa or our ethanol,Call your people back to work at home, and send us your e-85 pumps, We can use the Jobs AND the Gas Pumps.( e-85 that is).Aside from that , I Do support the pickens plan and Am pushing for ALL renewables As well as energy. I think Congress and the President need to Extend incentives to All citizens of this country to encourage renewable production, conservation, and consumption.Up to this point, The tax breaks and incentives have been directed toward big investors, business people, power companys and municipalities, not very much toward the Private individuals.Rich

Hi all..

Just me a lonely CNG user here in the Quad cities. I have two bi fuel cng trucks that I use for my business. I fill them in my shop at night and for about $1.25 a gallon. clean burning and in plenty of supply. While or fellow iowa farmers rush to shove corn base fuels down our throat. I simply fill up with cng. I am sure of one thing... that is there are not alot of cng users in Iowa but there should be. And to keep things simple. just do simple things like not over think T Boone pickens plan. Yes hes a capitalist and a darn good one. His plan is fairly simple and that is what America likes. It is also sensible. Cng as a fuel is the right thing to do. Wind ... well not enough quality players in the market to make it cost effective on a small scale. Lg wind turbines cost a mil plus. and the energy companies do not want wind turbines backfeeding the system. what is in it for them. Back the pickens plan.
