Thanks Leslie,

H.R. 1835 is the one we can get passed. We need congressional support in a number of key states. California has been lagging behind, we just got our first Congressman, Ken Calvert to sign the Pledge, he is a cosponsor of 1835. We have 5 Californians as cosponsors, and should take time to send them a thank you email. We need to contact every member of the house and senate to get 1835 passed. It is my understanding the senate version will be introduced July 8th. Maybe Pickens Plan Headquarters can come up with a letter that could be sent to the entire house and senate with our signatures on each of them. Think I will send an email to find out. Thanks for the info on 2425, the results are not surprising. Let's see what happens next. Think we can score a big win on 1835 if we are all in.

We are hitting a "critical mass"....PUSH to get an audience from your Congresspersons....it is possible..........this is my good news for our congressional district #03 here in Arizona......hopefully it will give you inspiration!

Great news! I got two calls from Congressman Shadegg's office this morning --locally and from D.C. He has agreed to meet with us regarding the Pickens Plan! We'll firm up the date that he will be back in Arizona from D.C. and I'll let you all know! Keep up the great work! If you could shoot of fan email or letter thanking him for the prospective date and that we would like him to "sign" the pledge it would gives us more clout!!!! my best, pamela

District leader Cnference call this morning with T. Boone Pickens. Well we all just heard it from the horses mouth. The greatest piece of the Pickens Plan is the Army (army without guns...that would be us!) We need more army recruits and I'm asking that each of us get 10 more before the virtual march and also commit to bringing one company on board. What about the company you or your family work for? Boone praised all of us for the hard work and diligence that we have brought to the table. His comment was that people are better than money in Washington!

The greatest obstacle of the Pickens Plan is the potential inaction by Congress with regard to an energy plan because of the low gas prices.

He predicts oil to be back up to $75 a barrel by the end of the year. Let's all remember the summer of 2008 when we were paying $4.00++ a gallon for gas and let's ACT NOW so we can move away from this addiction we have to oil.

He also commented that as we move into an economic recovery here in the United States our demand for oil will increase and so will the price of oil. China is slacking off from buying up our debt and potentially may be investing in the purchase of natural resources. As you may know China has already contacted Russia, Brazil, Venezuela for long term commitment of oil. I would rather not be a "pawn" in the game of oil but a "Queen" in our own game of alternative energy and domestic fuel....CHECK MATE!

HAVE A GREAT DAY. REMEMBER: The focus is on APRIL 1, 2, & 3!

AWEA Action Alert: Senate overwhelmingly passes PTC Extension. Crucial House vote expected late this week.

Thanks to you for making your voice heard on Capitol Hill. The U.S. Senate just voted overwhelmingly, 93 to 2, to approve legislation containing a one-year extension of the crucial wind energy Production Tax Credit (PTC) through December 31, 2009. The bill, H.R. 6049, also would create a new investment tax credit for purchases of small wind systems used to power homes, farms and small businesses.

Next, the bill must be approved by the full House of Representatives in a vote late this week. Once again, your voices are crucial in order to clear this final hurdle before Congress adjourns at the end of September. This vote is the last opportunity this year for Congress to extend the PTC.

Wind energy is not only a significant component of the global warming solution, but also a powerful engine in the U.S. economy. Since January 2007, more than 40 wind industry manufacturing facilities have been announced, brought online, or expanded in the U.S., creating over 9,000 jobs and $1 billion in manufacturing investment. When the PTC has lapsed in the past, wind energy investments have fallen 73-93% in the following years. We cannot allow this bright spot in our economy to burn out.

Please contact your Representative and urge him or her to vote Yes on H.R. 6049.

AWEA Legislative Action Alert: Contact your Senators and urge them to vote for the PTC extension.

The Senate will vote on the Baucus/Grassley Amendment to H.R. 6049, which contains an extension of the Production Tax Credit (PTC) for wind energy for an additional year. The Senate will also vote on the final passage of H.R. 6049. If the Senate passes the bill, it will quickly move to the House of Representatives where it will be voted on later this week. This could be that last opportunity this year for Congress to extend the PTC. We must urge Congress to successfully pass an extension of the PTC, which is set to expire at the end of 2008, before they adjourn for recess at the end of the week.
