Tom...dont be fooled by the sponsors of this bill in having you think they mean well. The underlying premise here is a huge increase in your taxes to pay for this program. Democrates love tax increases and promise you the world. Be very carefull of unattended consequences of this bill. The real path to energy independence and true conservation is through the free market. This is the essence of the Pickens Plan.

Hi everyone!

I've been doing research into the bill S.3335. It's officially called the Jobs, Energy, Families, and Disaster Relief Act of 2008, or you probably know it as the Renewable Energy Tax Credit extension bill. Sen. Max Baucus [D, MT] is sponsoring the bill and Sen. Harry Reid [D, NV] is the Co-sponsor. I've had conversations with another member about researching the initial results of S.3335 and publishing the results on PickensPlan.com. My hopes for this research is to help you, the voter, make an informed decision of which Senators you want voted back into Congress. We all support green jobs, and we need leaders that truely represent the needs and interests of the American people. Once I publish my findings, I urge you to contact the Senators that aren't in support and pressure them to support S.3335 and push for a 20 year extension with no strings attached.

Listed below is the full 18-page summary of the bill in the web link. Also listed are the links from the website I'm using to look up the initial senate results, www.opencongress.org.

Watch the video: CLNE on Mad Money
http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=841397608
Pickens praised by Cramer. Copied from interview description:
Prop 10, a November ballot initiative in California, will put $3 billion toward clean alternative-fuel vehicles, including those run on natural gas. If the measure passes, and Clean Energy Fuels CEO Andrew Littlefair said it should, that will be a boon to his company.
Clean Energy Fuels [CLNE 17.25 0.01 (+0.06%) ] provides liquefied and compressed natural gas through its service stations, mainly for medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Prop 10 will make those vehicles more attracted to businesses, and possibly make some new customers out of them for Clean Energy. Littlefair said he could see a ripple effect work its way east as a result.
But on the retail side, there’s still plenty of room for growth for this company. General Motors [GM 10.65 0.65 (+6.5%) ], Ford [F 4.51 0.05 (+1.12%) ] and Chrysler all make natural-gas-fueled vehicles for markets in South America and Europe – GM as many as 19 makes and models, Littlefair said – but none in the U.S.
“It’s frustrating a little bit for us,” the CEO said, but he’s confident the trend will work its way to the States.
The question then, of course, is how long can Clean Energy take losses before that shift here at home takes place?
Littlefair said his company is “spending money to be in the right place at the right time” in order to build more service stations and LNG plants. He admitted this kind of development can be a drag on earnings, but “this is a very profitable business once you get into the bigger volume.”
And there will most likely come a time when CLNE teams up with other companies like Valero [VLO 33.04 -1.72 (-4.95%) ] to get its product to the retail market rather than building stations of its own.
If “the trucking guys get it,” Littlefair said, and that’s an industry that uses 2 billion gallons of fuel at year, then eventually the consumer segment will catch on, too.
So how does nat gas compare with prices at the pump? For heavy-duty vehicles the price of gas or diesel is between $4 and $4.40. The natural-gas equivalent truck would only pay $2.25 to $2.50. For retail customers, the price in California for gas in $3.89. Natural gas would cost a driver only $2.60 to $2.70.
Presidential hopeful Barack Obama mentioned natural gas in his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention last Thursday, and Illinois Representative Rahm Emmanuel has introduced legislation that would provide incentives for natural gas. So Washington, while slow, is making a move toward realizing the potential this natural resource has.
“This one’s a winner.” Cramer said. “If you believe like I do that this is the fuel of the future, CLNE’s one of the best ways to play it, especially when natural gas comes down in price.”

Dear Pickens Plan Members. There are many choices for alternative electric energy but the real question is; which is the most cost effective for where I live? Pickens Plan is a NATIONAL plan that promises to bring cost effective energy drawn from the windy Mid-US where the wind is strong and steady and solar power from our dessert areas. The reason for doing this is to free-up natural gas for our transportation fleet, which uses 38% of our imported oil and for automobiles as a second fuel choice. Right now the electric energy generation part of the plan is not as important (unless you live where natural gas or heating oil is used for energy) as moving our transportation away from gasoline and diesel into natural gas. What can you do to help with this? If you have mechanical inclinations learn about using NG as a fuel or if you know mechanics try to steer them into auto/truck conversions that use natural gas as a dual fuel choice. Send letters and emails to your gov. representatives telling them you want them to adopt Pickens Plan. Vote for propositions that offer to expand natural gas distribution for fuel. We need more distribution of NG as a fuel. Sincerely, FredDC
NEWS ITEM: Nancy Pelosi makes personal investment in Pickens Plan. I don’t know how or to whom she gave $50 to 100k (she wasn’t very specific) but she told Tom Brokaw today on Meet the Press. Will have to wait until next week to get the transcript.

Area Builders Bring Nation's First Green Job Curriculum to District of Columbia

Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Councilmember At-Large Kwame Brown today joined the Green Builders Council of DC (http://www.builditgreendc.org), a coalition of more than 30 local builders and developers, to unveil the nation's first green collar job training curriculum for the Washington, DC area construction industry.

The curriculum will train current construction workers, plus Career and Technical Education students entering the District's construction trades programs, in environmentally-sensitive construction methods and green building rating systems as certified under the U.S. Green Building Council's ( http://www.usgbc.org) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard.

Thanks in part to the leadership of the members of the Green Builders Council of DC more than 100 buildings in the District, totaling over 120 million square feet, are already LEED certified. Including planned projects, members of the Green Builders Council will be responsible for more than 200 million square feet of LEED certified construction in the District. Upon successful completion of this curriculum, students will earn industry-recognized credentials that can help them gain employment at these and other green building projects across the District.

"The demand for District residents who can fill green collar jobs is only expected to grow. Now DC workers and Career and Technical Education students will be able to gain a valuable skill set that will benefit their careers and our city's green future," said Mayor Fenty.

"Now, when people ask me what a green collar job is, I can point to specifics. This training will lead to important results: A greener, more sustainable city and the jobs that go with it," said Councilmember Brown. "The District is looking ahead to the future, and we're fortunate to have partners who want to bring hope to our young people."

"Mayor Fenty and the City Council have been longtime advocates of initiatives that create jobs and promote a more sustainable city. Today, the private sector is proud to do its part," said Ted Trabue, director of the Green Builders Council of DC. "With this first-of-its-kind curriculum we're not just empowering District workers to take advantage of the green jobs of tomorrow, we're helping to grow this city's green economy and paving the way for other green collar workers across the country."

Specifically, the curriculum will train workers and students to be proficient in:
-- Recognizing the challenges that construction presents to the environment;
-- Understanding the life cycle phases of a building and their impacts on the environment;
-- Identifying eco-friendly alternatives to conventional building practices and understanding the costs and benefits of those alternatives, and;
-- Understanding the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED rating process and being able to apply construction practices that contribute to a building's LEED rating.

The new curriculum is the product of a partnership between the Green Builders Council of DC and the Florida-based National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) ( http://www.nccer.org/). The Green Builders Council of DC and NCCER commissioned the Sustainable Facilities and Infrastructure Research Team of the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech University ( http://www.mlsoc.vt.edu/) to develop the curriculum. An updated version will be prepared in the coming months to train workers in the U.S. Green Building Council's revised LEED standards for 2009.

The curriculum has been endorsed by the U.S. Green Building Council as well as Green Advantage ( http://www.greenadvantage.org/), an organization providing environmental certification for construction trades workers who demonstrate knowledge of current green building principles, materials, and techniques.

The training curriculum will be taught by NCCER-accredited training sponsors, including the Academy of Construction & Design at Cardozo Senior High School in Northwest.

The local builders and developers who are members of the Green Builders Council of DC have been leaders in green building and green jobs in the DC area for years. Their member firms have constructed over 100 projects totaling more than 120 million square feet that are certified LEED buildings and currently employ over 450 workers who are accredited by LEED as experts in environmentally friendly construction. George Hawkins, director of the DC Department of Environment, recently praised the Green Builders' Council of DC for "leading the charge on the business side of greening this great District."

Good Day Friends,

First and foremost I would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting a plan that will change America's Economy, the “PickensPlan”. As Hispanics sometimes we are not involved with what's happening in our country’s economy for several reasons, one can be fear of not understanding correctly our National Language “English”, another can be lack of promotional Hispanic literature. But for those of us that are fluent in both the English and Spanish languages it is our duty to help those in need. Why not stand up and help our fellow Hispanics, so that in return they can support our goals.

My question to you is “What are You Going to Do?”
Please join me in the “Hispanics for Alternative Energy” group.

Sincerely,

Abdiel Mercado
