Take a look at our group site Mariah Power. The Windspire is now on display in Washington D.C. at the U.S. Capitol Botanic Garden through October 2008. Units are going up in California, Nevada, and Utah now, and we will very visable and effective throughout Hawaii this year. It's time to stop complaining and do something! Contact your Senator, Congressman, your preferred Presidential candidate, and let them know how you feel. We do need more natural gas fueling stations, we do need more solar power. And, we do need to cut subsidies for companies like Exxon Mobil Corp, whose Chief Executive Rex Tillerson's compensation rose nearly 18 percent to $21.7 million in 2007, when the oil company pulled in the largest profit ever for a U.S. company.
The Hess Oil Chief Executive John Hess pulled in nearly $42 million from exercising stock options and awards in 2007, adding to a pay package worth more than $14 million for the year. WHY DO THEIR COMPANIES RECEIVE SUBSIDIES? I thought it was to make the alternatives competitive with fossil fuels.
What are the alternatives? Natural gas is an alternative fuel that burns clean and is widely available to people in other countries through stations that provide natural gas to homes and businesses. When used in natural gas vehicles—cars with specially designed engines—natural gas produces far fewer harmful emissions than gasoline or diesel.
The major automakers sell natural-gas-powered cars in Europe, Asia, South America and elsewhere, just not in the USA. General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner has said as one of the alternative fuels the automaker has intensified efforts to develop for foreign markets.
