Propane is stored as a liquid under pressure. It turns to gas at atmospheric pressure. You would have to retrofit most vehicles with a pressurized fuel tank and propane carburetor. If the propane were converted to methanol it could be utilized in most vehicles without modifications. Many forklifts and some commercial trucks use propane for fuel but they are purpose built. Some cars (very few) are purpose built to use propane.
