How much pollution is caused by petroleum burning vehicles driving on American freeways each year?

I am seeking a rough quantification (estimate) of the amounts of exhaust pollution produced by cars and trucks, from both light and heavy vehicles, annually in the USA.

Further, what percentage of those emissions are produced via freeway driving?
