I am happy to see that people on Long Island are doing things, I am unhappy to see nobody has done anything since July!

Actually I live in NJ during the summer, and happen to read the New Jersey energy plan. In it I saw that a lot of energy that is used in Long Island is actually bought from New Jersey since there were a lot of issues building nuclear and other power plants on Long Island a few years back. Well, New Jersey is running short on energy, so we in turn have to buy power from Pennsylvania and Delaware to make up any shortfall. We we both need to do is exploit the 200 miles of shore line from Cape May to the top of Long Island for off shore wind farms. There is a lot of energy potential there, and very close to the major grid connections and population centers. Cape Cod is struggling getting their Nantucket wind farm going, so maybe you will have to sell them power.

Some day soon, wind turbines will show up off shore. I have seen the pictures of what a wind farm 3, 6 or 12 miles off shore would look like. Obviously 12 miles is the best, hardly visible at all on a clear day, and not visible on most days due to haze.

Thank you for starting this site. I am very interested in seeing how alternative energy ideas develop across the country. Please include me on your updates and notices. I wish you much success. We are listed on the Pickens Plan as Mariah Power. http://www.push.pickensplan.com/group/mariahpower
