I would like to rekindle interest in the Quoddy Dam project of the 1940's. This was a hydroelectric dam in Eastport that was essentially killed during WWII by the big oil companies and senators from the western part of the US. This dam would harness the tides of the world's largest whirlpool. The tidal changes here in Eastport rise and fall 28 feet creating an inexhaustible amount of clean renewable energy. I realize they are working with under water turbines, but I think the Quoddy Dam should be looked at as well as a source of jobs, cheap renewable clean energy, local tourist increases as well as being a architectural wonder and attraction.
