Folks I am really having some frustrating discussions. It seems to appear that the costs in a lot of industries are so well disguised (not purposely) that it really hard to compare apples to apples in manufacturing and development costs. The operational lifetime of the equipment that is manufactured is now in question as well. I was all set to design and install a photovoltaic (PV) system... and then I had a long conversation with one of my friends at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center. I had no idea the expense of manufacturing a PV panel and the equipment it takes to tie it into the grid (or not).

The same thoughts and consideration need to be applied to the other energy sources too - wind, nuclear, water, coal, natural gas, etc. It seems that there is a lot of study needed to resolve the best course of action.

If anyone has a link to this kind of assessment that presents the costs involved in these industries and their return over their life, I think it would be great to share.

Wow it sure was tough to join this group. I tried two different browsers and all the links that appeared in Firefox weren't active (on IE there wasn't even a link visible to join). But regardless, I'm here and I want get involved in revitalizing the members near Frederick County, MD.

I would like to see a meeting or get-together sometime in the next couple weeks. Have there been any in this are recently?

Hello all - I'm the leader for MD's 7th Congressional District and if you're in the MD 7th then I'd like to invite you over to join our group and webpage at:

http://push.pickensplan.com/group/DistrictGroupMD07

(You'll know you're in the 7th if Elijah Cummings is your rep, otherwise the PickensPlan website has a CD lookup application by zip code at: http://www.pickensplan.com/district-leaderboard/). We are making plans for the next month, including contacting Mr. Cummings, and the bigger our "base" in his constituency, the more he'll listen.

Thanks and have a great holiday season....

And now we really DO need to host a meeting.... There are 37 days to the Inauguration and even now the plans are forming and firming up within the Obama team so there is no time to waste. We need to get a group together in MD to determine how best to get more folks signed up and on that Army Meter to ensure that our specific issues get heard. In some respects this should be the easiest job in the world - we're not asking for anyone's money, just their "signature" support for what is simply common sense. I'm sure most of us have reached out to our immediate friends so it is now time to make an appeal to the broader public; a meeting to brainstorm the best way to do this is in order. An idea I have is a signup table in a mall or other public venues during the holidays, although I'm sure that there are even better ideas out there. Please leave a comment here if you're up for a meeting, perhaps over the upcoming weekend (Dec. 20th-21st). Don Cornwell dcornwell20901@yahoo.com

As we approach the new year (and get ready for the new WH Administration & Congress), we are shifting gears to begin recruiting Pickens Plan District Leaders in every congressional district to help with activities in the coming months.

Please let me know if you are interested in serving as a District Leader in your area and I will get you additional information.

Thanks.

Annapolis Mayor Signs Pickens Pledge for Energy Independence

Annapolis Mayor Ellen Moyer has joined 168 Mayors nationwide who have signed the Pickens Pledge for energy independence...now we need to get other Mayors in Maryland to also sign the pledge.

Mayor Moyer is the only Mayor in Maryland to sign the pledge thus far...

Please contact your Mayor's office today and urge them to sign the pledge for energy independence!
