We have a great area of open water space in Maryland, namely the Chesapeake Bay. Does anyone know about wind farms on the Bay or plans for them in the future. The following U.S. Dept. of Energy web page make me think that Maryland could benefit from some of these farms.

Jerry, I was thinking the exact same thing. The bay is a great place to put these windfarms. All along the eastern and western shores. Hart Miller Island in the upper bay would be a perfect place as well. I guess its just gonna take a while for someone w/ some money to do it.

The state of Maryland set up a Anemometer Program several years ago. They have purchased 6 of these units to install and determine the best locations. My understanding is that they do have plans but are working through the red tape and the bird folks. I have not checked in on this for some time but have a renewed interest now with this Pickens Plan effort.

you can learn more at http://www.energy.state.md.us/

Others probably know a lot more than I on this subject.
