An annoucement has been posted on the Pickens Plan Mariah Power site that Mariah Power Reno will build a new plant in Michigan. If you are not already a member of the Mariah Power Group site on Pickens we want to invite you to do so for updates and other important issues.

Check out the Michigan Clean Transportation Expo & Awards Gala that's listed on the "Events" page. Anyone in the Novi area may want to attend. Wish I could go...

Is there a provision in there about utility companies having to pay customers a reasonable rate for electricity produced over and above the amount that they consume? This could make a big difference.

Michigan Legislature passes energy bills

The Michigan State Legislature passed SB 213 and HB 5524 last week. The enrolled bills are not yet available on the Michigan Legislature website http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(okpn5i45kuitekf0tvfthqil))/mileg.aspx?page=home but the Detroit Free Press article is located at http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008809190406 and the Sierra Club's News Release is at http://push.pickensplan.com/group/legislationtracking/forum/topic/show?id=2187034%3ATopic%3A1150995.

The bills have a Renewable Portfolio Standard of 10% by 2015. This is not very aggressive, but is a step in the right direction.

Now, if we can get the Congress to move on extending the Production Tax Credits, two of the important supports for more wind power production will be in place.

I received a press release from the Sierra Club about a new comprehensive package of energy bills passed by the Michigan Legislature. If anyone is interested I could forward it.

Michigan "averages" 12 knots wind speed I think? This is no longer about politics it is not about drilling it is about WE the people demanding that our leadership make smart choice not based on old ways.

Wind is wasted unless we get these turbines up and running in Michigan. I debate in the street and on the sidewalk with people that says it's all hype and it won't happen. They are starting to give up and I am trying to tell them it is only lost when we do not try.

LETS GET IT DONE

I just heard on NPR that very soon Michigan is going to pass new energy strategy that will make 10% of energy used in Michigan made by wind and solar power. I wanted to find the link on NPR but I cant find it. Only thing that sucks is that DTE and Consumers Energy are complaining now that they want protection from the loss of customers. What do you think?

I wanted to share this, in case you have not read them. I just read Obamas New Energy Plan, you will find it at www.scribd.com. I also read Mcain-Lieberman Act, S. 342 and his New Energy Plan "Lexington Project" you will find it at www.nrdc.org/energy. I will say that God Help us if Obama does get in-this man is truely without a clue. Mcain is more in line and I wrote him sujecting he just try and out ego aside and partner with T. Boone. Together the three of them would have a real plan. We will see if old ways can be over come. Anyway, we should be informed on all sides. So, if you want to know where our candidates stand this is where you will find your answers. Thank you for reading this. Karen Nardella
