In Northwest Florida we are blessed to have the significant infrastructure to support increased demand for natural gas in case vehicle demand appears. The calls are arriving within the gas utility I work for inquiring about home refueling units and the possibility of obtaining natural gas powered vehicles in our area. A local distributor of natural gas technology has the rights to sell the MyPhill (TM) unit now. Installation is fairly straight forward with qualification of installation crews being the only challenge. The availability of CNG commuter vehicles in our area will be the "long pole in the tent" with such a long lead time from the current sole manufacturer. I am hoping that the local Honda dealers will seek certification to repair CNG vehicles supported by their own manufacturer. Hopefully, more OEM vehicle manufacturers will see the wisdom of the Pickens Plan and support alternative fuel vehicles. With all the commuting within our area to Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field, it is only a matter of time before the CNG vehicle wave takes off. The hurdle ahead is the investment in the CNG refueling capability by the gasoline outlets at the key points where long commutes begin or end in our area to support the shorter distance legs of CNG vehicles.
THE QUESTIONS: Will the demand for CNG vehicles appear in NW Florida? Will current fuel distributors be willing to embrace CNG refueling along with traditional fuels (Regular, mid-grade and premium)?
There is a great clip from the Jay Leno Garage site reflecting the Honda Natural Gas Powered Civic and the home refueling unit which taps into your existing home natural gas distribution system.
As you examine the home refueling unit I am happy to report that we now have a distributor setting up shop for the refueling up. Look for activity now that we have a distributor for the refueling unit in the Northwest Florida area.
We are working with this company to promote CNG. The company's name is Natural Fuel Solutions LLC.
Natural Fuels Solutions, LLC will is teaming up with Okaloosa Gas District to point out the positives behind bringining compressed natural gas transportation technology to the Northwest Florida Fair, October 28, 2008 - November 2, 2008 and the Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival October 17 - 18 - 19, 2008. Look for FuelMaker's "PHILL" at the Okaloosa Gas District booth at both events.
The Tallahassee Honda dealer has beat our local Fort Walton Beach and Pensacola Honda dealer to offering the natural gas powered Civic. Don't be afraid to ask your local Honda dealer when they will be certified to support natural gas powered vehicles. We must overcome the business concern that the vehicle will not be accepted without gas stations offering refueling. The home based FuelMaker PHILL system overcomes this concern. It is time for our car dealers to jump on the Pickens Plan.
