Information

Oklahomans for Energy Independence

A group for Oklahoma residents supporting clean, affordable power and energy independence.

Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Members: 139
Latest Activity: Dec 2

Welcome to the Oklahomans for Energy Independence group page. I started this group to connect Oklahomans who share my concern for our energy security. Hopefully by combining our voices we can influence the presidential candidates in this election as well as local politicians here in Oklahoma.

If you have any ideas to share for organizing the support of the Pickens plan or ways to improve the Oklahomans group please post a comment to the group comment wall or start a forum thread. Please feel free to invite other Oklahomans to join the group.

Thanks,
Ross Flinton

I checked with Panera and it looks like that location will work. They're located at 2035 S. Meridian. It would be very helpful to have a headcount, though. I'm figuring that we'll have 10 to 15 people; if we're going to have more we need to know. Please post if you plan to attend the OKC meeting. It will be at 5:00 this coming Saturday, July 26th.

There is nothing more fun than pursuing innovative, aggressive, economically sound change - unless it would be kicking aside those who would oppress in the name of the titsy fly or some other ridiculous line of BS the citizenry of the United States. 63 yr old oilie, cowboy, innovator, entreprenuer, and all around ticked off American patriot and revolutionary. Can't make it this week - but born to work. I'm in.

Glad to be a tool for this group. If you need a hand or info, don't hesitate to e-mail me. I am 65 years young and spent half my life in the oil field. Good Luck

I am proud to be able to give my support to Mr Pickens in this great plan for our country. Why is it great? Well, it is broad in scope and dosen't just try to attack the problem with a single effort. Secondly, it is a plan of the "PEOPLE". We are small in number now but I am sure that this number will swell has we march together. As the old colonial flag of 1775 said, "Together we stand, divided we fall."
Publish a meeting place and time and I'll be there.

Let's plan on Panera on S. Meridian at 5:00 Saturday. Panera has wi-fi and should be fairly quiet. I'll call and make sure was can have an area to ourselves.

I am planning to attend the 26 Jul mtg in OKC....just standing by for the details. Panera or Shorty Small's will be my vote of they have the room to accommodate.

I e-mailed Pickens Plan early last week about yard signs or artwork to do our own and never received a reply. If someone else wants to give a second shot in looking into that, be my guest!

I am perfectly fine with whatever location you guys pick, and I look forward to attending the meeting! Proposed agenda sounds fab to me. The only thing I should point out is that not everybody likes Indian food and it's my experience that it's hit-and-miss finding people that actually do... I think if we're going to be looking for a restaurant location that we should probably go with one that's more eclectic in its menu; Golden Corral, Panera, and Shorty Small's all seem like good choices.

I should be able to sneak away from work for a couple hours on a saturday evening. Usually don't get off work til 8pm, but for this I would definitely try. There is a learning curve for me also. I have followed energy to some degree for a while. Would love to get with everyone soon and make sure I also am reading and hearing the same things. I am also working to get something started in my old hometown in Missouri. When we get the information on the yard signs, etc, let me know what I can do to help...

Hello, people. I think the Golden Corrals also have meeting rooms. So do the Indian restaurants in town....Taj, Gopuram. Saturday is difficult for an Indian place. They always have birthday parties then. It may be easier at Panera or Shorty's. County Line has a room upstairs, and the Annex. The OKC metro libraries also have meeting rooms you can reserve. But you're trying for a Sunday? No wait that's a Saturday, and the library closes at 5 PM then.
