Oklahomans for Energy Independence

A group for Oklahoma residents supporting clean, affordable power and energy independence.

Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Members: 139
Latest Activity: Dec 2

Welcome to the Oklahomans for Energy Independence group page. I started this group to connect Oklahomans who share my concern for our energy security. Hopefully by combining our voices we can influence the presidential candidates in this election as well as local politicians here in Oklahoma.

If you have any ideas to share for organizing the support of the Pickens plan or ways to improve the Oklahomans group please post a comment to the group comment wall or start a forum thread. Please feel free to invite other Oklahomans to join the group.

Thanks,
Ross Flinton

I am new to the state. Can't get to Tulsa for a meet, but would love to be active in the OKC area. Live in Jones. Anything i can do, i'll certainly help out.

Count me in for July 26 in Tulsa. Has it been decided where and when specifically the meeting is proposed to take place?

Hi!
The bad news is that I'm not currently living in OK--I'm in the military. However, my home will ALWAYS be in OK and that's the state I still identify with.

It's amazing that since I checked this site out 5 hours ago, 7 more people joined the group. This shows that the word is getting out and that this movement is gaining momentum. I'm excited to be a part of it!

I am so excited about the Okla. group!!!

I fully support the Pickens Plan and am ready to get started! I agree that we for sure need t-shirts, bumper stickers, signs, information kits, etc... but I think that we should clarify that these things aren't already in the works from TBP's staff. There have been requests for those things on his Facebook and MySpace profiles. I will do anything I can here in Oklahoma City... anything involving getting the word out or having a meeting, etc. Can't really HOST but will glady HELP plan or attend any meetup in any way I can. I am very excited about all of this.

Am a little confused on your current meet status? Am I correct that you are planning one for TULSA for 7-26? Please verify. If that is accurate, we definitely need to plan one for OKC as well.

FYI – I am a career marketer and professional graphic designer, so anything I can do as far as graphics or materials please let me know.

We need to get the word out like advertising. T-shirts, bumper stickers, signs, etc.

July 26th works for me as well. Untill then, we need to grow this group exponentially. Invite all of your friends, family, and anyone with an e-mail address. Although Mr. Pickens has plenty of money and strong pull among his peers in Washington, it is going to take large volumes of supporters at the ground level for this plan to be recognized as a major concern of the American people.

Good luck finding a date everyone can meet. I won't be able to meet on July 26th, so don't wait for me if that's a good date for others. I'll be glad to meet sometime after that--in Tulsa or OKC--if another date works best.

im fine with a meet also. we need to get together and talk about what we need to do and to answer Annie's question our country was founded by the voice of few to become the power of many. we need to organize our friends. find registered voters for a initiative petition so this can be brought up in a vote. we need to talk to our local family owned gas stations to see if they would start selling natural gas along with gasoline. talk to the car dealer ships about carrying ngvs and along that same line. we were the first to join we must also be the first to take steps to get this started. if you build it they will come... and they will start using it

I'm not here to sell a product or advertize anything.
It would interest me to meet as a group to find ways ordinary people can support this plan. What, exactly can we do? Blogging is fine, but what action can one person take?

Interesting how politicians blame big oil and speculators for rising gas prices.
