Help make Boone TIME Magazine's MAN OF THE YEAR

The suddenly ubiquitous billionaire is hawking a wind power alternative energy plan. It requires massive turbine construction stretching the Great Plains, from Texas to the Canadian border. At a minimum, he's brought wind energy into the national conversation. And he just might be rich enough to pull it off.

Army,

With Boone as TIME Magazine's Man of the Year, the Pickens Plan would be front and center for the world to see. Click on the link below and send it to your friends to do the same!

Boone Pickens was interviewed today on NBC's 'Meet the Press' show. Below I have included several ways that you can view what was said today.

Netcast video of interview: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/27751884#27751884

The 'Meet the Press' program also re-airs at 6 p.m. ET Sundays and 2 a.m. ET Mondays on MSNBC on cable.

Great comments Kat!

Just by "bundling" errands and routing them correctly will reduce the number of car trips per week and miles driven. I've been walking to do errands whenever possible instead of driving. I get exercise, meet more people and see more of what is going on in my community. Remember when you knew everyone on your block? Maybe it's the automobile that made everyone so anonymous?

Maybe part of moving forward is finding out where we need to take a step back?

We can do something very important personally each and every one of us: CONSERVE, CONSERVE, CONSERVE! Drive slower, carpool, shut off lights, consume less, shut off appliances when not in use, get outside, go for a walk, get in and stay in shape, keep informed of local sustainability efforts, attend green conferences like Bioneers, encourage our school districts and city coucils to also conserve, write letteres to editors asking for renewables, send postcards to friends in support of Pickens Plan, cal respresentative sand inform them of our long term good with renewables, We ca be the model of change.
Hugh Hemington Comment by Hugh Hemington on November 15, 2008 at 8:46am
Yes, we need to build a renewable power infrastructure, but that takes time. Wind can work but it will require transmission lines from where the power is generated to the grid where it will be consumed.

We can certainly encourage this through our representatives, but there is little we can do about it personally, and there's so much we can do now.

Since we have insufficient oil reserves to use only domestic oil, or even non-middle east oil at our current rate, energy independence means using less oil, regardless of its source. Shale oil is too expensive to extract (only competitive with $200bbl oil), and we can't run cars on coal, that leaves natural gas.

Right now, we're getting people informed and on board, so that our collective voice will be heard by the new administration as well as state and local governments.

Let's stay focused on wind. Natural gas may be the bridge, but natural renewables is the long term future: wind, solar, geothermal, tidal, and hybrids of these in combination.

EPA awards grants each year based on funding appropriated by Congress. Annual funding for the program ranges between $2 and $3 million. Most grants will be in the $15,000 to $25,000 range.

Dennis and John,

There are no "elected" leaders on PUSH. We've had regional leaders since early September to help guide the community, keep people informed and provide resources.

Meet David. He is the Community Moderator for Push.

Thank you for your comments.

Beside the question who elects "the leader(s)" is there a site monitor. There seems to be a lot of noise on the site. War bonds, smore bonds its the idea that counts. Stay positive
