Let's push the plan! We need to pass the Nat Gas Act, it will help us all! Not just Boone. We have the bill, we have the sponsors, we need to get this accross the finish line! Will we be done then? NO, there will be much more to do after that, don't mistake the current focus as the end, its not. We need everyone, we need divirsity, so everyone help, everyone hang in there! There are lots of niches and areas that need more work after we get the Nat Gas Act passed!!

We can all help each other, let's get the Nat Gas Act done now and then move on!

Energy Independence will be a continuing challenge and task for all of us, so let's stick together and get it done!

My compliments to these insightful posts on this page regarding hydrogen gas as a fuel source. The energy expended to separate its molecular bonds from more stable compounds is like spending a dime to earn a nickel. Then there are the storage and transportation issues. Remember the Hindenburg..."OH THE HUMANITY!" We need real-world, stable, sustainable, proven solutions: biodiesel, ethanol, methane, etc.

I meant it as a joke.

Nice site -- good Flash menus.
Hey! You may be onto something with the BPA in plastics. If it mimics estrogen, that might explain why Americans have turned into a bunch of wussies.
I'm hoping that my next car can be electric, provided we develop better ways of producing electricity (than coal), and making it cost-effective.

There is still another idiocy regarding hydrogen - - - and you'll see why this is the oil mogul's dream:
Presently Hydrogen is made via a catalytic process that uses a hydrocarbon (like natural gas, others), steam, and high pressures. The result is Hydrogen and (guess what?) - - CO2 (the stuff that causes global warming.
But you can't make Hydrogen yourself ( - like electricity with a PV system on your roof), and therefore you'll have to go to a "Gas" station where they'll sell it to you for their pre-determined price.

Yes, Hydrogen could be made from water with electricity - - - but we would need EXCESS electricity, and that is NOT a reality. Since today most electricity is made via burning coal, using that electricity to make hydrogen would, again, require us to burn more coal (- - which would produce even more CO2, etc., etc.).
I wrote a special section on the hydrogen car, the dream of the oil moguls, at www.ElToroEXPOSED.com CLICK HERE.

How about some logic? Plug-in hybrids with the new iron-type (cheap) batteries that are projected to last 600,000 miles.

In the meantime - - to keep you healthy - - don't drink fluids or eat foods that have been in contact with plastic (plastic leaks BPA that mimics estrogens and suppresses immune functions.

These were advertised on the local news as diesel / electric...and the article says

at the end of the day all you have to do is plug it in and you are good to go for the next day.

To me, a CNG/electric bus is better and a totally NON electric but 100 Nat Gas bus is the best alternative isnt it....particularly for Mass transportation ?
Hugh Hemington Comment by Hugh Hemington on January 30, 2010 at 8:40pm
Oh, and the idiocy of Hydrogen is that most of it is made from Natural Gas. Let's see... we take a FUEL, and use a bunch of electricity to turn that fuel into another fuel, so that instead of fueling your car at home, you have to go and buy it from people who basically have you by the shorts. Hmmm, maybe not!
And even though you're putting out water from the tail pipe, when the CNG is turned into Hydrogen, everything else comes out, so you're moving the real tail pipe somewhere else, and using electricity (probably made from more CNG) to do it.
Where natural gas burns in a 15% fuel/air mix range, hydrogen ALWAYS burns, so which do you want in your car?
Hugh Hemington Comment by Hugh Hemington on January 30, 2010 at 8:36pm
I have the Honda Civic NGV, bought in '06, and the PHILL appliance on my house. Both work great! The benefit of the CNG car or Natural Gas Vehicle is that they are cleaner AND financially feasible and beneficial. It's a total win!
And before you wring your hands too much over Global Warming, put the Kool-Aid down and watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zOXmJ4jd-8
As the AGW circus unwinds day by day, with co-opted peer review and layer after layer of politically-motivated JUNK SCIENCE, the "jig" is pretty much UP on the rascals.
Richard Barnard Comment by Richard Barnard on January 30, 2010 at 7:17pm
Yes Amy it is what I'm talking about. It is diesel but it can be manufactured to run on CNG. It can also be manufactured as a car. The bus you show isn’t a PLUG-IN but it can be.
