I think that it would be nice if we all had a visual aid to show to people when we try to educate them about the potential of natural gas as a cleaner, abundant, domestic energy source and one which can serve as a bridge to a green energy economy.

I found a documentary film, just released a short time ago, that does all these things. It profiles the lives of people in the Haynesville Louisiana area after the find of massive gas deposits there. It also uses a group of experts in the areas of energy and the environment to flesh out all of the things that we have been saying about natural gas. Many of the comments sound like things Boone has been saying since last year...

I think that one important aspect of this film is that it illustrates how the lives of ordinary people can be enriched, both financially and in a social sense, when our energy dollars are spent here at home.

Yes, the film focuses on Natural Gas but the concepts it illustrates can easily translate to solar or wind energy or the green energy economy in general. Since renewable energy generation as illustrated by the distributed generation model tend to be spread over the whole country rather than being concentrated in specific areas the economic benefits they bring to communities will also be spread out in the same way.

I am thinking that Army members could use the film to hold screenings for their friends/family/governement representatives/community, etc. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words and so a film must be worth a million, lol

Many Army members have told me that they don't know what to say to people or things of that nature and a film like this does the talking for you. At the moment I am working to bring the film to Plan members but I thought I would put this up so you can go have a look at the film website and trailer at least.

The release date for DVD sales on the Haynesville film is going to be January 16th and that seems to be a pretty firm date.

I wish that members would have had this film to use last year... I can foresee people using it to have home screenings for friends and family as well as showing it at schools, church and business groups and local and state politicians' offices.

The film will be showing at the Copenhagen Energy Summit as one of the films that were invited to show in conjunction with the Summit. In the film scientists, environmentalists and energy people all say the same things that Boone has been saying since the beginning and it shows how the lives of everyday people have been improved by keeping our energy dollars here at home. All of the good things that happen in the film would never have happened without American energy.

It is time to revitalize our efforts and this film will be a great weapon in our little war against apathy and downright stupidity. Remember, American Energy = American Jobs!

In the few weeks leading up to the film being available on DVD I would like to work to devise a plan for getting the film out in each state. Independent films don't usually get a lot of coverage in the mainstream press so it will be up to grassroots activists like us to make sure that people see it :-)

However today I sent a letter to Boone asking for his help in locating a Commercial wind turbine for an Community College here in Oregon that trains students to become wind energy technicians...

This is the letter:

Dear Mr. Pickens,

I am the Second Congressional District chairperson for your group here in Oregon. I have a webpage based on using renewable energy resources for economic development for my area. A Community College here in Oregon has a program educating its students to be wind turbine technicians.. The turbine they have now is over 20 years old and outdated. Vestas has donated a hub to the college but they need to update the rest of the systems and have a small grant to help cover some costs of getting a newer machine.

They are looking for something that has perhaps been damaged somehow that might still be serviceable for their educational purposes that they could buy or that would be donated to them....

Kind of a long shot, but thought you might like to be involved in finding that turbine.. It would be some great publicity for the Pickens Plan if we could be of assistance.

Sincerely,

John R Cogar

If anyone here has any information about locating a turbine please contact me at jc@sustainablelakecountyoregon.com

Would you support the US Senate spending $ 100 billion of your tax money to build out-dated nuclear reactors? CLICK HERE.

Let's face one MAJOR thing: The reason why Obama got elected is MAINLY due to many top Republicans and Republican industry leaders really screwing up, and NOT abiding by true Republican principles.
When people get ripped off - - and they clearly see who is ripping them off - - and when they have to pay the bill (they call it "stimulus") - - - they simply respond.
And now, instead of taking actions "for the people," Republicans and some paid-off Democrats in Congress and Senate, are continuing the schemes. To mention just one: The push for nuclear energy (reactors), which only benefits this industry and their investors, and rips off our entire nation.
Today a nuclear reactor takes at least 7 years to build - - - the last one took 25 years to completion - - - and the cost of electricity is 4 times that of solar, even coal.
Who will pay the high electricity bills? Naturally the consumer - - - who is, one more time, ripped off by a Republican investment scheme (it's literally 100% Republicans and a few rotten Democrat apples that push this scheme. For documentation see "The nuclear (power) threat"; editorials in major newspapers, Nov. 28).
For documentation and cost-calculations to show that, instead of 7 years (to build a nuclear reactor), within 18 months we can produce four times the electricity for the cost of a nuclear reactor (and without radiation risks, without radioactive garbage) CLICK ON ElToroEXPOSED.com .
During the next elections "THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT" makes more and more sense.
