US-REG, A-Power Energy Generation To Build Wind Turbine Facility In U.S.
North American Windpower - 17 November 2009

The U.S. Renewable Energy Group (US-REG) and A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. plan to build a wind turbine production and assembly plant in the U.S. The two companies have signed a cooperation agreement for a 320,000 square-foot facility that is expected to produce 1,100 MW worth of wind energy turbines annually for the North and South American markets.

Upon completion, the facility is expected to employ approximately 1,000 U.S. workers and will create additional jobs during the construction process. In addition to production and assembly at the new plant, the plan calls for many of the key wind turbine components to be sourced from U.S. manufacturers, according to the companies.

"The decision to construct this wind energy facility in the United States is the direct result of America's commitment to renewable energy and the strength and skill of the American workforce," says Cappy McGarr, US-REG managing partner.

The construction of the assembly and production plant is subject to further due diligence and the signing of definitive agreements between the parties, as well as various government approvals.

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. is a Nasdaq-listed (ticker: APWR) alternative energy company based in Shenyang, an industrial hub in Northeast China. With 17 projects completed since 2003 and more than 10 currently in-process, we are the largest provider of distributed power generation systems, focusing on energy-efficient and environmentally friendly projects of 25MW to 400MW both in China and overseas.

In 2008, we entered the wind energy market and have built China's largest wind turbine manufacturing facility, located in Shenyang, with technologies licensed from German Fuhrlander AG and Denmark-based Norwin, and a total annual production capacity of 1,125MW. In March 2009, We entered into an agreement to establish a Joint Venture partnership with GE Drivetrain Technologies to produce wind turbine gearboxes in Shenyang.

Let's hear it for GE and their "American" job creation. How long will they use US production facilities before shipping jobs back to SE Asia?

Pickens: $300 Oil is Still On Its Way
By Kirsten Korosec | Nov 13, 2009

T. Boone Pickens, the Texas billionaire investor turned-wind turbine and natural gas champion, said Thursday he expects the price of oil will hit $100 in 2010. Within 10 years, he thinks crude will make it to $300 a barrel.

Pickens, who was attending a conference in Washington, said the world had maxed out at 85 million barrels a day of production, reported Bloomberg News.

Pickens isn’t alone in his prognostication.

I emailed my local government and asked them how we can get more and better mass transportation here, in the event that gas continues rising. I like the idea of People movers the best(only if fueled in a Green way), and they would need to build more trains/tracks, more CNG buses everywhere and until we get to that point make it easy for people to car pool.

No answer, no email in reply, nothing.

All they are about right now is that the state, counties and cities are 'drowning' in a budget crisis but they don't care about us - they are only worried about how they can keep their cushy steeping stone positions and salaries.

Americans always seem to wait too long before seeing a situation that needs to be addressed. Maybe this would get some solutions implemented quicker.

Could $20-Per-Gallon Gasoline Make Us Happier?

When it's time to fill up the gas tank, many fear the price of gas will return to the $4-a-gallon days of last summer. But according to author Chris Steiner, our lives would be a lot happier and healthier if gas prices rose into the double digits. Steiner explains himself, and the title of his book: $20 Per Gallon: How the Inevitable Rise in the Price of Gasoline Will Change Our Lives for the Better.

The Oil Situation Is Really Bad
by Dave Cohen

Published Nov 12 2009 by ASPO-USA, Archived Nov 12 2009

On the eve of the International Energy Agency’s release of its annual World Energy Outlook (WEO), a whistleblower at the IEA claims the agency “has been deliberately underplaying a looming [oil] shortage for fear of triggering panic buying” in the world markets. As the young fan said to “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, who was wrongly convicted of helping to throw the 1919 World Series, but knew the fix was in, say it ain’t so, Joe.

Ah, but apparently it is so. Another dose of disillusionment for the naive. A second Guardian informant went so far as to say the situation is really bad—

The senior official claims the US has played an influential role in encouraging the watchdog to underplay the rate of decline from existing oil fields while overplaying the chances of finding new reserves.

The allegations raise serious questions about the accuracy of the organization’s latest World Energy Outlook on oil demand and supply to be published tomorrow – which is used by the British and many other governments to help guide their wider energy and climate change policies…

A second senior IEA source, who has now left but was also unwilling to give his name, said a key rule at the organization was that it was “imperative not to anger the Americans” but the fact was that there was not as much oil in the world as had been admitted. “We have [already] entered the ‘peak oil’ zone. I think that the situation is really bad,” he added.

Ignorance and illiteracy seem to stick together. Nothing new here. Let the market decide. It's just a shame to see America sold down the river by a pretend patriot. Some of us love this country enough to NOT screw it for a buck. W.Engwer
