Pennsylvania has a big problem: we are number three in the nation for spewing out heat-trapping gases causing global warming, more than 101 countries combined, a full 1 percent of the world s total. Carbon emissions from Pennsylvania power plants equal more than New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Maine together.

You know we can t wait to solve this problem.

The good news is that through a combination of important and achievable actions, we can solve the Pennsylvania problem.

Wind energy is a critical part of Pennsylvania s global warming solution.

We know we need power that is abundant, affordable, secure and clean-power from wind energy helps get us there. We know we need power that doesn t make our children and our seniors sick with breathing problems-power from wind energy doesn t make pollution. We know we can t continue to pay rising energy costs-wind energy doesn t rely on fuels, meaning costs won t skyrocket over time.

TAKE ACTION! Please take a moment to contact your state elected officials to let them know you support wind energy development in Pennsylvania. We have sample talking points for you to use. And once you take action, you ll be asked if you d like to do more, by sending a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Help support clean, alternative energy production like wind energy.

Take Action !

I assume that you mean to lease your land to commercial windmills? You can start with the North American Windpower site to get info and perhaps some company names: http://www.nawindpower.com/page.php?5

If you are in Pennsylvania you could contact pennfuture.org and see if they can point you to someone who could help. I assume that the agricultural extension office in your county may also have some info.

I found an article that has some good information. I know that it is almost a year old, but you can go to the source of the data they quote and get updated information.

Hi Mike, I would appreciate your estimate as to how many MW of wind turbines would need to be installed in PA in order to have a significant impact in lessening the threat of global warming?

Also, what source are you relying to support your claim that building wind turbines will reduce air pollution coming from power plants? Are you saying that if as many as 6,000 MW of wind turbines were installed within PA that they would actually reduce the number of tons per year emitted by fossil-fueled power plants located within the Commonwealth?

Thanks!

George
