As many people know, Pennsylvania is the birthplace of the 'oilfield', and has continued to be a player, although in a much reduced way, for the past century and a half. Now new drilling and stimulation technologies are paving the way for PA to once again be more than a minor player by developing natgas resources locked in a shale we Geologists in the "patch" have known about for years. By some estimates, the now-recoverable resources locked in the Marcellus Shale, which underlies PA, OH, WV & NY has the potential to increase domestic reserves of natural gas by as much as 25%. Nothing to sneeze at! And timed in such a way that PA has the potential to be a major player in producing the alternative fuel that gets foreign oil out of our pocketbooks & provides a bridge to whatever source (or combination of sources) powers the lives of generations of Americans to come. We "original" oilfield/gaspatch folks stand behind Mr. Pickens' plan 100%, and commend him for being a man of action amid a sea of talk.

I know that there is a lot of gas left in Pa. I used to work in the Bradford, PA area and have talked to a lot of people in the area who work in that industry. There is still a working oil refinery in Bradford too.
